I found that China cheap .cn bring 1 million .cn per month and in 2008 ,there will be 10 million Chinese cctld on the net..
Cool!

Nope, Verisign takes $6 per .com and ICANN takes $.25 so you won't find them for less than $6.25 unless the registrar is taking a loss. And look what happened when registerfly did that...

I was at the TRAFFIC domainer show.. well actually just the Namecheap party the night before, and I had some pretty interesting chats with some registrars over there that all claimed that depending on which country you're located in, volume of .com domains you process annually, and other factors you can definitely secure .com domains through some loopholes for $2-$3 per .com domain per year. Could have very well been drunk talk, but from the magnitude of some of these guys' portfolios of just so many damn domains and typos, you gotta be wondering if it's true or not.

nicee never knew that..well that would surely maximize their profits :)

Yeah netfirms offers it for $4.99 and Yahoo is even cheaper. But that doesn't change the fact that they are taking a loss in hopes of making profits elsewhere. I remember what a nightmare it was to cancel the hosting plan NetFirms shoved up my ass with that domain.

Yeah exactly. Any reputable registrar that isn't going to upsell you a million different ways and charge you for stuff like forwarding / pushes / NS changes won't get below $6.25 per .com. Some sketchy ones offering the $5 crap will try and rip you a new one with $20 renewals/transfers after you've developed the site and are forced to pay.
