I've heard a couple people say that if you use Google to track your conversions, Google will raise your bids because they know you're converting and will keep running your offer anyway even if your bids are higher.

Thoughts?

I have heard opposite. if you conversion rate is high, they will lower your bids - they assume that since the customer bought something, you are giving them what they want as far as kw, lp and offer - thus higher q/s and lower bids.

you gotta use google tools with the understanding that they are studying everything. Its in the TOS, Im sure of it. They aren't gonna give away free tools and not take a peek at what is profitable. You can bank on that....

I disagree with above. Maybe one of their reps are checking your shit out, but Google has much bigger fish to fry then whats going on in your account. If anything they probably like a site that shows great conversions.

Google has the conversion optimizer, where you can specify a target CPA and have Google try to optimize to that CPA. So I have a feeling the rumors aren't exactly true...

I think google is "trying" to utilize their data by starting a "google affiliate network", but so far that network is a complete failure.

ermmm...that's just the affiliate program arm (performics) of the larger company DoubleClick which they acquired for 3 billy...not sure what you mean by failure, their aim is to catch up on display advertising/media buys and basically dominate any space where money changes hands for serving ads. once they do this they'll buy earth...;)

affiliate network rev is a very tiny goal for them right now...but yea they must be stopped...
