I do not think it is much different than Think and Grow Rich. Pretty much same idea.
You want a real mind bender, watch What the Bleep do We Know: D:Down the Rabbit Hole-Quantum Edition. Make sure to watch the individual interviews because not all the scientists agree with all the points in the movie.

the guy labeled visionary is my favorite. all these guys are a bunch of scammer crackpots, i mean this stuff is like a non-religious religious belief in that it requires some faith in an unproven power. Obviously, positive thinking is a good thing and probably essential to success but its not exactly a secret nor something that is attraction. And theres nothing like selling this belief for 30 bucks a videotape. This just caters to the MLMers, the info product addicts, and those people who just enjoy buying shit that makes them feel good. pretty pathetic stuff

i at least had fun typing this comment. looks like some secret fanboys have found your blog. anyways didn't know you had one so i'll check it out.

this ancient knowledge led to me needing eye surgery - i kept looking for opportunities and went blind in the process. my dog is typing this message but has been diagnosed with diabetes so i don't know if i'll be able to respond to any more comments. i hate this secret!

Im not trying to open a whole new can of worms here, nor am I talking religion, but since you brought it up id like to ask.

How many of you believe in some sort of power greater than yourselves? When I ask this (I'll repeat) im not talking religion here. When I look around and trust me Im not a religious person, there is no question in my mind that some higher being, some higher force is at play here, im not talking Jesus or Mohamad here. Im just curious to what you all think and believe.

well i dont believe in a higher power, but my point was, that to believe the attraction stuff it is not really different than a religious belief despite the quantum physics mumbo jumbo they spew at you

So I have to ask, and not in the sense that I am questioning your beliefs, im just curios and am also trying to kick up some conversation here. You believe what you believe and I respect that, so dont take this as me trying to change or question you beliefs like they are wrong, because that really isnt what im trying to do....

You say you believe in no higher power. You believe that there is no other power that is greater than yourself? No other force greater than yourself, even if you have no clue what the hell that force is? Im asking because, like I said I know myself I am not a religious person, nor do I know what or where the higher power came from, but I do believe there is something out there that is one or many things that are much more powerful than myself. Im not sure if that power is spirtual or physical, but I do believe ther are powers at work that surpass mine.

Like I said im not questioning you in the sense that I am disagreeing with you or suggesting you are wrong for believing what you do, but what do you believe in as far as creation and the powers at work that drive creation.

If you dont want to respond or really just dont give a shit, I also understand, im just trying to get some conversation going here about something I know nothing about, but wonder about quite often.

Holy shit! This shit is huge! Money wise.

I finally saw this. It's stuff that's been around since time. But what amazes me is the spin they put on this and the way they packaged it (put a Davinci Code spin on it). This "Secret" is almost an industry upon itself. Even Oprah is behind this. Now you know if she's behind something, there's money there.

I always new about it's prinicples (many books about this in the past, like someone mentioned ex. Think and Grow Rich, etc). But I didn't know about this new form. Based on a Time magazine article, this version is the best thing since sliced bread. It was the #1 video sold by Amazon.com during Christmas. These people are living "The Secret" and making serious cash.

Also a bunch of sites have sprouted up around this. There's money to be made here folks. Let the ideas flow. I also can't believe that this is the first I've heard of this version. Since it's been huge since Christmas. And I thought I was in the know. When this post came up I even avoided it. Then I saw somewhere else about this "Secret" and I said wait it was on WF. And that's how I started to research it.

I plan to make my own version in about 5 years and make $$$.:D
That's the next idea. Find old shit that was successful and repackage it as if it's the new shit (or in this case "The Secret").

I think I got to brush up on my 1920's verbage. Any one here knows what "twenty-three skiddoo" means.

The Ghetto version of "The Secret"

YouTube - Vivek - Homeless Prophet

I'm making light of the "Ghetto" version, but this homeless dude makes sense. He just might change your life.

the oprah buzz brought it to front page of msn.com last week too. i figure since that's the start page for IE by default, msn knows people are interested. i'm wondering since they reuse their articles too a lot, that paying attention to that maybe would gives an idea of what is popular and the common internet folk are interested in and possibly be a good way to pick up niche ideas.

The interesting thing about this video is that they don't mention Napoleon Hill. I bet if you talked to the majority of these people they will tell you that once they read "think and grow rich" or "the law of success" all came together for them.

Now for me to get set up and flamed. If you haven't read those two books you need to.

haha, nice bump. I am still moderating comments on this blog post on an almost day to day basis. The post seems to have picked up a lot of long tail keyword traffic, ranking for things like the secret scam.

Here are a few of the wackier quotes from the now 38 and counting comments:

"it worked for me $20,000.00 plus my eye operation canceled,so much benifit in 6 mo.but there are others."

"I know it Works, implemented it 47 years ago as a College freshman, had 2 Profs on my payroll by my senior year. All I needed were the the 6 steps and the Burning Desire, ramped up energy and pure joy of implementing a STRONG WORK ETHIC."

"The Law of Attraction is a spiritual law just like gravity is a scientific law. Like thoughts and feelings attracts it’s like. So you create the thoughts connected to what you want, you attach a positive FEELING to it, You ask and you LET IT GO."

"The Secret is Satanic. It carries Satan’s message of “do what thou wilt” and “you can be as gods”. What if someone wishes for that $25,000 windfall and the universe delivers it to you by killing your parents and thus you get an inheritance? Who’s to say that people practicing this “secret” aren’t delivering evil upon others for their good forune?"

"I totally agree it is satanic. Although, you can make things happen God is our ultimate source. God is our healer, deliver, and everything you need. If you could do everything on your own, where’s the need for God? I guess you wouldn’t need him. Don’t be fooled and please don’t sell your souls. P.s
It is proven fact that people who pray heal faster check your medical journals."

I've got comments in here longer than my original post, I can't even be bothered to read them.

Ok I'll admit that I didn't read every single post because I'm getting a little bit tired now and the video links no longer seem to work so that kind of sucks but I just have to toss in my two cents and bear with me because I've got this really bad habbit of crossing science with religion even though I'm not religious.

You have to understand that we still only use 10% of our brain capasity, we still don't know all there is to know about our own DNA and we are still a long way away from identifying a lot of our genes, (A.K.A. The human Gnome Project [probably spelt wrong])

With all of that said its natural to have stories fly around, now I'll cross examine a TV show with all of this.

The NBC Show Heroes (believe it or not) is possible, is it possible for someone to levitate and fly without a plane, is it possible for someone to stop a bullet with their hand, more interesting is it possible to move objects with your mind.

The answer is YES and NO, as of right now its obviously no not really and you'd be laughed at for truely thinking so (Thats society), but yes because we still have no real clue how powerful the human mind is.

Take the ability to move things with your mind for example (Telekenisis), ok I have no clue how to spell it and I don't know why I even tried but back on topic of this example.

Everything in the universe has a relationship with everything else, when a bowling ball falls from the top of a table, it transfers engery, it stores kenetic energy and transforms it into mechanical energy when it falls, all deals with physics which I failed so bear with the overall point and not the facts.

Simply put a dead bowling ball can transform energy, objects store and release energy all the time, as do we, if it didn't we would not get hurt when hit in the face with a shovel (Yes that happened to me twice now, by accident though, trust me it HURTS).

So if energy can be transfered among objects then there is no reason why we cannot transfer some of our own energy that our bodies store to move objects (We already do this by touching that object), but its the point that eventually we may learn how to move this energy out of our bodies using our thoughts, this energy is transfered into an object and that object moves.

It would require a ton of human energy to do it but YES its technically possible to do. We have no clue what the human mind is capable of, the way our society works is were basically shunned upon to think outside of the box.

You'd be laughed at if you were a teacher telling the students this type of thing but...........ok fuck I lost my train of thought on all of this, so to sum it up.

Its never impossible just improbable.

I'm all for having a positive attitude. It makes you stick to your work even when it's no fun and therefore allows you to succeed. It helps you stay healthy and it makes you notice the opportunities around you because you expect them to exist. That's a huge effect and it's worth noticing.

However, I hate the secret. Because what they claim is not the above. They claim that your thoughts work magic. They claim that your thoughts create the universe in the literal hard-core sense (no, not metaphorical or in an your-eyes-may-register-light-waves-but-colour-and-space-are-created-by-your-mind kind of way, but literal creation or "manifestation" - I hate that word.)
And the worst thing is that they claim that this is science, which I can assure you it isn't. It's a stupid faith-based belief system and it refuses to be testable. "If the secret doesn't work, you just didn't believe hard enough and so the law of attraction is still working." Therefore it can't be science.
The believers go to such lengths as saying that 9/11 victims had it coming by their beliefs just as the 30,000 kids that die of hunger each day.
It's a materialistic pseudo-spiritualism for fat white middle-class American housewifes so that they can feel good and special. Of course it sells like hell which makes it a sad reminder of the fact that the IQ of half the population has only two digits.

I also believe that there's more out there than science has found out, yet. But that doesn't mean I have to believe in untestable crap. I might aswell believe in the Spaghetti Monster.

The reason I'm so pissed is because there are many gullible people out there taking this serious and buying stuff they can't afford to "feel wealthy" and "attract" the money to pay for it, stop taking their heart medicine hoping that magical forces of the universe will heal them and die, and of course they can be self-centered as hell, because if people suffer a bad fortune, it's their own fault. Like losing your kid in a car accident, for example.

It's pretty sick once you think about it a little.

Note to the believers of the true faith:
Of course the true believers will now neg-rep the shit out of me (a prophylactic "Fuck You" shall be inserted here) , but before you do, ask yourself why you attracted a smart-ass dipshit like me to ruin your day. ;)
Also ask yourself why Joe Vitale is bald and fat and why you have to pay $2000 for the video course when they could just manifest the money.
Oh, and read "Quantum Psychology", that should cure you from Metaphysics. After you did all that, feel free to hate me. Have a nice day. :)
