Just built a new URL shortening service

The site looks beautiful, good job on the design. its great.

BUT get ready to be raped by spammers once its found.

- Build in some filters so spammers cant register 100s or 1000s of URLs en masse.
- Have some kind of system setup so when their URL is naughty and you nuke it you can redirect it to your owner lander and make some ad impression $$ off the still incoming traffic

and shit son. close/protect some of those ports on that box!

Do you just randomly port scan ever site you view?

Looking nice ... a short video on typical options will be great for novice users (this service may be helpful - http://www.wickedfire.com/links-seo/174526-explain-your-business-60-secs.html)

What extra you offer then bit.ly ? (One extra was Geo targeting I noticed)

They are established one and if you want to get pass to them then you need to capitalise those things in which they are lack of.

Would love to see your reply on extra offer from you.

Best of luck for your new ventures ... checked your blog as well, nice one.
Right now nothing other than more custom shortened URLs being available. I'm not planning to compete with bit.ly or have any delusions that I may ever pass them. This isn't intended to be a new business venture, I just did it because I felt like having my own URL shortening service randomly so I built it last night =)

If it gains some traction and I get some clever feature ideas to make it differentiated (that I'd actually use) I will; however, that is not currently the situation. Maybe then a walkthrough video would be worthwhile. Thanks for the kind words about my blog.

Glad you like the design! I've disabled bulk shortening for guests per your advice. That way if I identify a spammer I can easily remove all their shitty links simultaneously. I'm also using Google's Safe Browsing API to mitigate the risk of said spammers. No spam at all so far. I like the idea of profiting from shutting down spammers, but I'm trying to avoid that situation from ever being a possibility. THANK YOU for pointing out my server vulnerabilities, I've addressed those now as well =)

When you get bored of this URL shortening site do what CC does, point all those shortened links to the money for some free traffic love

Oh that's dirty...

But not as dirty as posting open portscan results from a public windows box on a blackhat forum.
