Kansas City wins the Google Fiber bid.

^^^ quick somebody post a tinfoilhat.gif

Am I wrong? Give it 5 to 10 years and see what happens. When you control information you ultimately control money. Google already has controlled billions and in 10 or 20 years its going to be hundreds of billions or more.

^Don't forget they'll own the power company too. So, fuck with google, and you lose:

*The Ability to Find any data
*Access to any internet at all
*Your fucking lights and heat!

Sounds scary, but luckily their motto is "Don't Be Evil." -Thank goodness!
:\

No it's not. They've already said it will be comparable to the current broadband prices in the city. It'll probably end up being $30-60 a month. That's kind of the entire point.

theres no way... I looked around and the only thing said about the prices is that it will be "competitive". I doubt they are gonna build up this whole network tearing shit up and spending tens of millions of dollars maybe even hundreds of millions of dollars to charge 30-60$ a month...

Infact they already have 1gbps in chattanooga apparently... And they are charging 350$ a month.

You realize there's nothing to build, right? Part of the reason they picked KC is because it already has a huge fiber network (dark fiber, not being used), thanks to Sprint... I guarantee you that their service will not be more than $60. If it is, come back to this thread when it's announced and I'll give you $1,000.

i'm in kc (obviously). wouldn't use that shit though. maybe with a tunnel. i don't live downtown anyways.
