40 Years ago, this poor woman would have dealt with this bullshit everyday.

Thanks to the internet, this woman knows that most of mankind doesn't endorse this kind of behavior.

These kids are going to have a fucking hard time getting a respectable job or going to a decent college because the internet will make sure this stays with them for the rest of their lives.

On a side note, these kids are going to need some serious reputation management :P.

My neighbor (soon to be college linebacker) beat his ass for it right then and there, I promptly forgot about it until he made regional news fifteen or so years later. Don't care whether you think it's faggoty. Why would having a knife pulled on you affect your self esteem? a single (likely empty) threat of violence is much different to years of mental torment. Not to mention you had someone else stick up for you, you're a real tough guy.

There was a pretty unfortunate looking girl on the bus who was a senior, she used to get called a dog, people used to 'bark' every time she got on the bus. More often than not she would be crying... yeah that doesn't affect someone negatively at all.

Mentally, yeah. That was my point. Sorry for not making it more clearly. Kids are assholes. Always have been, always will be. Allowing asshole kids to negatively effect you after you've grown out of that phase of your life just strikes me as sad. I hope you learn to let it go at some point. Good luck bro (no sarcasm).

I don't think guilt is the main trigger here.

I think it's hit a nerve from everyone that has ever been bullied or talked to in a demeaning way (which is the entire adult population). She was completely helpless in that situation but knew she had to watch what she said because they were filming her. Teachers, principles and anyone dealing with students have to be extremely careful what they say and do around kids -- otherwise you've got a huge lawsuit coming on. Amazing she was able to keep so calm and I'm sure a lot of people respected that.

I know a lot of older people feel kind of powerless around minors today. Back when I was in elementary/middle school these kids would have been left black-n-blue from a paddle striking!
