Karma is an elaborate word for the perceived state of the mind and mass perception of individual or group of actions as said individual invoking(as cardine mentioned) reciprocity.

karma is simply cause and effect. Everyone counts on it every day. If you didn't expect results from something you do you wouldn't do anything. The trouble people have is drawing an arbitrary line and saying there are results from some things they do and none from others. I lol at those people.
