I remember watching his commercials for a health book he was promoting like 10-15 years ago. I went to the bookstore and read it... didnt buy it.

I dont know what is different from what he did versus Clickbank ebooks on the same topics about which he wrote or the rebill monetization like Acai days past, other than the fact that he promoted them on TV versus the internet.

Was he sentenced because he didn't pay the original $10MM fine against him?

I checked a couple of articles and I'm not really sure what this guy is guilty of?

Did he deny refunds or hide charges on cards? Did he steal or mislead customers? I'm curious, I have no idea. From Wikipedia...

Kevin Mark Trudeau (born February 6, 1963) is a convicted American fraud artist, author, radio personality, infomercial host, and salesman who promotes various unsubstantiated health, diet and financial "remedies". Several of his books, including Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know About, allege that both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the pharmaceutical industry value profit over treatments or cures.

Is his crime alleging that the FDA and big-pharma are profit motivated?

I know he has previous charges (I'm not sure what they are), and I'm not defending the guy, but this could have serious implications.

If his only crime is promoting a "Fast and Easy Way To Do 'X' - That They Don't Want You To Know About" - I don't see the justification for 10 years in prison.

I read and enjoyed "The 4-Hour Workweek" (yet still work more than 4 hours a week, lying bastard).

I know a TON of people who are into diet/nutrition/holistic medicine and swear by "natural cures" (Not the book, but stuff like 2(HO) therapy)...

What if I visit the affiliate marketing forum on here and don't have "cash registers making sales all day" (as claimed).

What if I sign up to a dating site and don't find "an ugly bitch who wants to fuck right now"?

What if I buy Cottenelle and it isn't "comfortable"?

What if Campbell's chicken soup doesn't "comfort my heart with every bowl" or "put me on the road to happiness"? (Because it's nasty processed horse shit).

What if the most interesting man in the world hates Dos Equis - or even worse never intentionally experienced an awkward moment just to know how it feels? What if he's just pretending to be the most interesting man in the world?

What if I'm not loving McDonalds? Or I'm not kicking ass at work despite what Appsumo promised? Or OSX isn't the world's most advanced operating system? Or although I use Evernote, I don't remember everything?

What if Adwords isn't as easy as they promise...

How it works

1. People search on Google
2. They see your ad
3. You get more customers

Is there more to this or are they literally outlawing advertising?

What has this guy done that Tim Ferris ("The 4-Hour Body") or Jenny Craig hasn't done? Anything beyond piss off the State?

If this guy did anything wrong beyond making claims like "fast and easy" in his marketing I'd love to know - I'm not taking a side - but if that's all there is to it than anyone who claims to know anything about marketing on here should be worried about the implications of this.

From what I remember, he signed an agreement with the FTC a long time ago that said he was never allowed to sell anything health or weight loss related again on TV. It sounds to me like his bread and butter was the natural cures book and he decided to roll the dice.

Yeah. Then he didn't honor the agreement and he was prosecuted for criminal contempt. There was a Federal criminal contempt case built out of the fact that he thumbed his nose on the FTC agreement he signed. He's being made an example of so others honor their FTC agreements.

Can't believe they gave him 10 years. I recently saw a documentary on the second biggest fraudster behind Madoff who stole hundreds of millions from hedge funds, and I think he only got 10 years. So for them to give Trudeau 10 years on this seems crazy considering he provided an actual product to customers and honoured refunds. He really should have stayed out of the States after getting hit by the FTC, and should have been less vocal against them.

There is more to this then what the typical news sites are revealing. They just don't know how to properly research a story or simply don't care. Probably both.

The last I read about Trudeau he had created a sort of cult where if you became a member you gained elite access and insider knowledge on the inner workings of the world and who's really pulling the strings.

He basically sold Illuminati memberships anywhere from 4 to 5 figures. Who knows, maybe he even took some people for 6 figures or more.

The guy is definitely lacking in the empathy department. I'm not saying he's a full blown psychopath, or that he deserved that long of a sentence, but it kind of seems like he went off the fucking deep end, lost all touch with reality, and took a bunch of people and their life savings with him.

It is possible that this was the true motivation behind such a harsh sentencing, but that they only had a solid case on the natural cures sales.

^^ I laughed at this article about it.. Guy don't give a FUCK

In this infomercial, during part of his sales pitch he even says, “If a guy is watching this right now and doesn’t get the Your Wish is Your Command program, they’ll always be a loser.”

In this new infomercial, he says with the purchase of his CDs comes a ticket to join “a very elite society” which he calls a global network of wealthy affluent people. He emphasizes that you can’t join, except by invitation only, and he’ll send you the invitation if you purchase his CDs for $300.

describes his organization as being, “conceived by a group of individuals from around the world who are the highest ranking members of several private societies, associations, clubs, and groups whose membership has been exclusive to the privileged elite class of the world,” including members of the Illuminati, Skull and Bones, the Bilderberg Group, the Bohemian Club, the Trilateral Commission, Freemasons, the CFR, and the Brotherhood. I’m serious. It actually lists all of these organizations on their website, claiming members of these groups are members of the Global Information Network.

There are 12 “levels” of “membership” in this “society” and the website lists them as:

Level 1 Member
Level 2 Member
Level 3 Member
Level 4 Member
Level 5 Member
Executive Member
Senior Officer
Director
Presidents Club
Chairman's Club
Inner Circle
Partner

( Too bad the Illuminati put him in prison for revealing the secrets )

can you clarify? just which book would be nice.

I forget what it was called, didn't even read it. Something about getting free money from the government. I didn't give a shit about the contents of the book, I just wanted to see what his sales process was, how he handled customer service, and how he did his upsells, email marketing etc.
