L-Theanine - anyone take it?

You know your shit, do you take Nootropics?

From many years in the supplement industry.

I've taken several different kinds over the years, but it always comes back to good old piracetam. About 6 months ago I made some big changes to my stack, and added in uridine and remove piracetam (was noticing some conflicts between the two, and uridine is much more useful than piracetam).

Relevant Link: GPC (choline), Uridine, DHA - Brain Health - Longecity (I get much better results from CDP choline vs alpha GPC, but everyone will be different. If you can't take large amounts of choline without side effects (eg depression) then try ALCAR.

I take L-Theanine it daily, as a part of my stack, for its mood related benefits.

For those reading this thread I would also recommend looking into Rhodiola rosea and Ashwagandha, two lesser known herbs that work great in this department (increase focus/energy, reduce stress, tranquility of mind). They work great along with L-Theanine.

Taking all three of these, + caffeine, + Uridine, and + CDP choline or Alpha GPC = dream-like productivity.

edit: and if you're not already taking at least one gram of DHA daily, you should be, regardless of your stack.

Is that your full supplement stack for focusing/reducing stress? Was researching the other day on supplements to buy to increase productivity/brain function.

My current stack:

Uridine (300mg, 3x per day)
CDP Choline (500mg, 2x per day)
DHA (2g per day) - get DHA 500, which also has 250mg EPA
Rhodiola (500mg, 2x per day)
Ashwagandha (450mg, 2x per day)
L-Theanine (200mg, 2x per day)
L-Tyrosine (500mg, 3x per day)
Vinpocetine (20mg, 2x per day)
Iodine (best brand: Iodoral) >5mg per day

B-complex and 2000 IU of vit D daily. The "Opti-Men" multivitamin is good.

Everything on that list effects one or more of these: energy, focus, reduced stress, positive mood, and memory. Piracetam is a nice addition to this stack, though I personally get "jitters" (excessive energy) when I mix piracetam and uridine.

If you're going to add uridine to your stack, you will need to cut back on (or preferably quit) caffeine and nicotine to get the most out of it. Incidentally, uridine works great for taking the edge off nicotine withdrawal.

P.S. All of this (except the piracetam) is ridiculously cheap on Amazon. Don't be buying supplements at GNC or Vitamin Cottage, you'll pay 3x.

Thanks a lot man, really appreciate it. I'm going to order all of these today and I don't know if you care or not but I will let you know if I notice a huge difference after a month or longer.

I know a lot about piracetam, maybe I will pull the trigger on that too for the euphoria benefits.

I look forward to hearing your results!

Ever since I added uridine to my stack I've noticed a great increase to my mental energy - from morning to night I feel like I did when I was a teen. It's a much less known supplement so I'd definitely be interested in reading about experiences.

For euphoria, you may want check out aniracetam (fat soluble and shorter lasting member of the racetam family). I wouldn't say it causes euphoria (in the same since weed does at least), but it's great for social situations.

Someone just PM'd me asking me how it went so I thought I would just share it here because the thread is bumped. Yes this stack works, really well too. I did notice a difference in stress (felt more euphoric especially middle of day) and more productive. I don't know what in the stack wasn't mixing well with me but I was starting to get a more sensitive stomach or just feeling weird/jittery.

I dropped the stack and I started eating healthier (something that resembles paleo more) and while it's no where near as intense it's a no-brainer that diet affects concentration/well-being.

I forgot to mention too Matt is the man for helping me out

maybe quitting half a dozen drugs that mess with your hormone levels helped a bit.

It's cool, I did PCT bro

But for real, yea eating better and organizing is enough to improve a lot of areas in your life/work. It's a no brainer for a lot of people, and we're all guilty of looking for an easier way like a supp stack.

L-Theanine did NOTHING for me. Tried it daily for a whole month, didn't notice any difference. Could have been that the capsules weren't potent, who knows.

Best thing I found so far for FOCUS is Lian Zi Xin (Plumula Lotus Hearts). You make a tea out of it and it gives you this little buzz that helps you instantly focus (or meditate). You'll find it in any chinese herbal store. All chinatowns should have it. It's one of those mainstream herbs they have.

The other good option is Kava Kava. Gives you a buzz similar to drinking a glass of wine, but with more clarity and focus. Zero hangover the next day. Make sure you get quality shit though. I like Kona Kava.

Next thing I want to try is the mushroom category: Reishi, Cordyceps, etc... but it's hard to find quality stuff. Pure cordyceps from the Himalayan mountains can cost $7,000 for 1 mushroom...

L-theanine is great as a relaxant.

Also amazing when used with coffee.

It def has anti-anxiety properties, I notice myself being noticeably more relaxed on L-theanine.
