I have to admit this is fucking incredible. I remember when I started my first .com (Dustcloud.com, back in 1998 / 1999 Internet Archive Wayback Machine) I was paying $1750 a month for a fiber T1 (1.54 Mbps). Now I pay $30 a month for 6 GB of 4 Mbps Internet that I can carry around in my pocket and use from virtually anywhere, and that can make fucking video calls from airplanes at 37,000 feet.

That's the shit

I'd challenge you to use Fring consistently and not decide that video calling isn't really worth it. The quality looks like something you'd see on a Nokia in 2004

I only use blackberries. No additional time sink needed for me. Just stating facts.

I've had video calling on my sony ericsson for a few years - probably the most unused feature of my phone. Have a blackberry now could not handle the iphones touch screen.

I still don't get it.

There is no one I talk to on a cell phone that I want to see. Same with a webcam.

My LG from 2003 does video chat over 3g for fuck sake - and I never used it once. The fact the iPhone has wifi is the only difference between the 7 year old technology you're praising.

rofl are u fucking serious. korea and japan have had this shit since i was an embryo

nothing new here nor is it useful/cool. another sheep fallen to the clever marketing department of apple

welcome to the past America (ps your mobile networks suck),

as other have said big wow, 3g video calls are shite, used them in the UK like 6-7 yrs ago and the novelty wore off after about two calls.

Actually this whole hype about video calling really pisses me off, i have an iphone and love it because it works and the touch screen is brilliant but as far as technological revolution goes well thats bollocks, my old sony p900 had 3g and wifi video calling, my hytc tytn 2 could multitask etc.

props to apple and jobs for their marketing skills and their apparent ability to convince half the world they just invented video calling but please for the love of god, jobs just stfu now, any more hype and it might well backfire as they are losing any and all credability with anyone who is even slightly tech savy.

rant over

ahh yes congratulations apple on repackaging old technology and selling it to the sheep, oh and don't forgot its shiny and white so it must be good.

Holy shit. The cynicism is reaching new levels here.

Take some advice. Cynicism and negativity will take years off your life.
