Libya all about oil, or central banking?

Interesting article about the incentive behind the Libya conflict:

Asia Times Online :: Middle East News, Iraq, Iran current affairs

Robert Wenzel wrote in the Economic Policy Journal:
I have never before heard of a central bank being created in just a matter of weeks out of a popular uprising. This suggests we have a bit more than a rag tag bunch of rebels running around and that there are some pretty sophisticated influences.

[Libyans] are entitled to free treatment, and their hospitals provide the best in the world of medical equipment. Education in Libya is free, capable young people have the opportunity to study abroad at government expense. When marrying, young couples receive 60,000 Libyan dinars (about 50,000 US dollars) of financial assistance. Non-interest state loans, and as practice shows, undated. Due to government subsidies the price of cars is much lower than in Europe, and they are affordable for every family. Gasoline and bread cost a penny, no taxes for those who are engaged in agriculture. The Libyan people are quiet and peaceful, are not inclined to drink, and are very religious.

Another explanation for the assault on Libya is that it is "all about oil", but that theory too is problematic. As noted in the National Journal, the country produces only about 2% of the world's oil. Saudi Arabia alone has enough spare capacity to make up for any lost production if Libyan oil were to disappear from the market. And if it's all about oil, why the rush to set up a new central bank?

Another provocative bit of data circulating on the Net is a 2007 "Democracy Now" interview of US General Wesley Clark (Ret). In it he says that about 10 days after September 11, 2001, he was told by a general that the decision had been made to go to war with Iraq. Clark was surprised and asked why. "I don't know!" was the response. "I guess they don't know what else to do!" Later, the same general said they planned to take out seven countries in five years: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.

What do these seven countries have in common? In the context of banking, one that sticks out is that none of them is listed among the 56 member banks of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). That evidently puts them outside the long regulatory arm of the central bankers' central bank in Switzerland.

With Qadhafi still sticking with his rule and NATO allies striving with limited ait-strikes, nothing appears clear as to what incentives lie behind all this drama........... End of Qadhafi's rule and consequent developments about pre-war entitlements the Libyans availed may clear out the mist in future.

This attack on Libya has hidden agendas all over the place. One of the most fishy wars ever started.

Most likely neither. This time it was because of that maniac Ghadaffi and the promise he made to slaughter his own people. Pretty much the whole world agrees that he needs to go. Leftists, right-wingers, communists, fascists and even islamists. The west already got cheap oil from there so starting a war is pointless. Hell, that's probably why the US wanted to pull out of this one pretty quickly. No profit? No war!

Look at the difference between Bahrain and Libya. Libya: Blew up a pan am jet. Bahrain: lets US use as a base. Of course we will treat these two countries differently. We are nice to our friends and mean to our allies. School yard logic.

Not exactly, apparently this was taken out of context by no one else but the Nobel prize for peace winning president...

What Gadafi said is that he will be searching house by house and destroying armed rebels and that civilians have nothing to fear. Now if you're carrying an AK around you're not exactly a civilian any more are you?

His original speech can be found online so look for it if interested...

What do you think would happen in the USA if you were to run around with an AK47 saying you were going to overthrow the government. You would most likely be killed in minutes.

Thats exactly what he was doing.

The war has other agenda's. What ones i'm not sure.

Ashamed to be part of a country doing that

I know what he said. But if you know anything about Gaddafi and the history of Libya then you know what he really meant.

You should be ashamed of being part of a country that has supported blood-thirsty and brutal dictators such as Gadaffi for decades.

Ummm, yeah you would.

Because there is a democratically elected government, the rule of law and separation of powers – which is supported by the majority of the population.

Not because of any hypocrisy.

What's your point? Do you support this?

What I don't support is bombing to 'save' Libya. Attacking Libya to 'save' the people is a load of tush, the real reason behind it is because of banking with oil as a bonus.

^^ yep they definetely don't need any help of their oil-needy friends like France and good ol' america

CIA/Mossad/MI5/FBI/freemasons/skull & bones members & illuminati agents are behind this little pop corn show. New World Order coming

You don't think the people of a country should benefit from the natural resources? If state owned oil is paying for it and not the richest people -- it's hard to try and bitch one would think.

Damn socialist countries. I mean America would never ever pay it's citizens for the use of the natural resources of their area...

ohh wait.............

If coal, natural gas, and oil were all government entities in the U.S. do you think your gas, electricity, etc.. would be a whole lot cheaper? We aren't a socialist country though, our country doesn't operate businesses...... ohh wait...... Government-owned corporation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crap - where is my free education, house, subsidized car, etc......

Mmm not so much. The US and NATO states in general don't give a shit about humanitarianism. It's a narrative for the antiwar Obot crowd to accept imperialism.

And we're not in Libya for profit. We're in it to suppress a rising nation state and throw out a regional leader who runs his country in the tradition of Nasser and who has brought more prosperity to his people than anyone else in Africa in the last few decades. Gaddafi was cutting nice oil deals with US competitors, dumping petrodollars, raising the standard of living for his people, etc. Can't have that.

Look at the difference between Bahrain and Libya. Libya: Blew up a pan am jet. Bahrain: lets US use as a base. Of course we will treat these two countries differently. We are nice to our friends and mean to our allies. School yard logic.

No.

Libya: botched CIA & Syrian drug smuggling with a frameup on Gaddafi. Look it up.

Bahrain: recently told the US they're not allowed to use that base as a launch point for an Iranian invasion. The CIA already has a destabilization effort underway in Bahrain, mostly to get at Saudi Arabia.

As corny as it sounds im with you on this one.

Its a fucking puppet show out there, and we are the muppets they 'entertain'.

Libia is the beginning. Also a distraction for whats to come.

History tends to repeat itself. Check out what happened with the 'fall of rome'.

What happened to the people, their wealth, their security?

Cause and effect, history repeats. The million dollar question should be:

Who came out ahead back then, what did they do, and what can YOU do?

Over here in Spain massive protests have taken place and guess what?

Not a single blip on spanish news/tv. NOTHING!

They know that we hold the power. It is us to stand up and take responsibility as a whole.
