No wonder I'm always in computer land, coz the real world FUCKING sucks sometimes.

That's really fucked up news, I hope they catch the cunts responsible & fucking castrate them, slowly.

And the system will not "get tough" with sexual offenders who love touching kiddies. Pedophiles are protected in jails and prisons, and protected quite well. In all the prisons I've toured, administrators don't want the legal headache involved when one of the kiddie diddlers gets hurt by someone who didn't like him - so if anyone so much as looks at them wrong the kiddie diddler threatener (huh?) is placed in lockdown for several months.

The pendulum will swing the other way, and then it will swing back.

Nothing can be solved until these folks are completely removed from society or neutralized chemically or electronically. Treatment isn't possible.

While in college I had the "pleasure" of working with a convicted felon (aggravated assault) who told me how the pedophiles were treated in prison. Nobody wanted to bunk with them. Their lives were constantly in danger. Prisoners would spit on them as they passed. I suppose it's evidence of a code of honor among criminals.

Apparently the recidivism rate for sexual offenders is off the charts. That's probably the reason for the focus on treatment and rehabilitation. I agree with you that drastic measures need to be taken.

I saw the news story about the missing girl this morning and that really made me sick to my stomach. I hate to imagine how things will be when I have children. I suspect that the 1/500K kids being kidnapped ratio will be a touch worse, and I'll be a lot more protective of my children than my parents had to be. Sure, I'll let them go play down the street with their friends. But, if it's going to prevent them from going missing and turning up in a suitcase in a pond a week later, I'll take the few minutes to walk them there myself.

I'm sure I'll be the same way when I have children - especially if I have a daughter.
