Or don't.

I had my appendix out in January and altogether it was like $45,000 or some shit. But since I pay out of pocket they do an adjustment and I only ended up paying around $14k.

I called the Surgery Center of Oklahoma. They charge $4800 for an appendectomy. There rate of infection is something like 0.01% compared to 2+% nationwide.

Bullshit. I paid back my $20,000 in loans without any problems. I know that pales in comparison to what some have as loans for doctorates and law degrees and whatnot, but if you're going to be making a fat 6+ figure salary a year you can pay back you shit too. If you're an idiot and spend a fortune on another useless Psych degree and can't get a job afterwards as a result, then you have no one to blame but yourself.

Why is it the government's responsibility to pay for the education of it's citizens? Shouldn't parents bear some responsibility for paying for their kid's educations? If they don't save anything for the first 18 years of their kid's lives, how is it the govt's fault? Just a bunch of bitch entitlists thinking the gov't owes them something.

In our current economic state I don't think it will be easy for anyone to get a job easily. Not everyone is clever enough for a degree in computers, medicine, ...And some don't even know what they want to do with their life yet e.g. all those art students (who later draw those amazing drawings on your Pizza Hut box). Lets say that they make $25k a year by having a 8 - 5 job at Pizza Hut. It isn't hard to calculate that this person will live in debt for at least 3 - 7 years (calculate tuition fees, rent, food - while being at college).

Of course parents are responsible to pay for the education of their children. But what if those parents didn't get a proper education neither and have a job on minimum wage? They are not capable to pay for a college degree for their children. (and lets not include many of these financial disasters who can't handle their own finances).

I think instead of saying "education should be free", we should set-up a proper system that allows the poor to get education at the minimum price possible, and those who actually have the money should pay for it in full. But since the US is controlled by the 1%, something like this will never happen.

I do also highly suggest these books. They are damn interesting and a must-read for all of you :)

You can also read part 2 of The House of Rothschild. I only read part 1 yet, but going to read the second soon, hopefully :)

I paid my $50,000/yr tuition without taking out a single loan.

This is because you either (pick one that fits you):
a) Come from a wealthy, well-educated family
b) Already made enough money due to IM (I suppose?)
c) You know your damn finances
d) You have parents, grandparents or relatives who lent you the money at a 0 to low interest rate

Take all 4 away, what are you going to do? You have to take a loan at a financial institution. And those greedy bastards obviously have high interest rates and don't really care about you and just want your damn money. They will destroy you and your family until they have their money.

You paid $50,000/year for education and you don't have somewhere to be today? What is your "career"? How were you able to afford it without a loan?
Although I'm not as interested in short term hustles now, I'm pretty good at affiliate marketing.

I was busy this morning, but after spending 5 hours nonstop talking to my new employee I'm ready for a short break :)

Prove it. Send me traffic. :D

In CR insurance is kinda pricy but you get the best doctors in the country and yes there are some really good ones.

In Canada rolling into emergency you would have hours to wait unless you were with head trauma or something life threatening. Believe me waiting in pain sucks.

In CR we don't have to wait more than 5 - 10 min. They get you in and looked at. For the price it's pretty good.

If you only knew half of what Cardine could do you wouldn't even question for a second where that 50K /yr went ....

this just got me thinking.

what healthcare providers do you guys use?

I jsut got my us citizenship last year, and i don't have a health insurance...

if i get sick.. I might have to endure it and put myself on a plane to india to get treated or something.

What's your point man? I have friends that are in debt for school, work shitty jobs, etc. but then again they didn't decide to drop out of school and become a hermit for 2 years to learn IM like I did. Why would they ever achieve the same results in life as me?

Everyone chooses their own path to take and the world isn't a fair place. Those loans aren't being forced on anybody. People choose to take out those loans and people choose to agree to the terms of the loan.

Look into a Health Savings Account and high-deductible (catastrophic) health insurance. You can probably get it for $100-200/month.

This place offers free market surgery (prices listed). It's probably cheaper than India when you consider the flight.

Why would you take all 4 away? Pretty much the ONLY people who should be taking on 50k a year in tuition fees are people who fit one of those criteria.

If you don't have a plan to pay for your overpriced education, then do something else. Don't get 200k in debt with a liberal arts degree and then whine about greedy bankers not caring enough. There are plenty of ways to get an education and make an incredible living without mortgaging your life away.

I honestly think it is amazing that they can even do such a thing and have you out of hospital in 2 days and back to work in 9 days. You couldn't pay me enough money to use power tools to cut through skull and then have to have extremely steady hands as you tinker with brain mass, arteries and nerves. That surgeon deserves his Lambo or whatever he is driving.

In any case, the insurance company only paid $24K it seems, which is far more reasonable.

The full price is probably just used as a bargaining tool to give the illusion to insurance companies that they got a good deal (they're notoriously stingy). Similar to Clickbank salespages previously $499 now $17.

My insurance company was billed 25K+ for the 20 days I was a prisoner at Fairmount Behavioral Health. I did write a letter to the Pennsylvania Department of Public Health complaining that I couldn't use my own lawyer at my involuntary commitment hearing, as well as telling them about some other weird circumstances (http://surroundedbyspies1.tumblr.com) Someone from the PA Dept. of Public Health suggested I write a letter to Golden Rule, my insurance company explaining the circumstances but they had already paid the bill.

Agreed. It's hard to argue with the guy who is saving your life/increasing your quality of life by a lot.

He had 4.5 hours of open cranial surgery where they exposed his brain stem and wrapped it with Teflon. He lived and was back to work just 9 days later.

I honestly don't think $75k is too much to pay for that kind of neurosurgical expertise.

Compare it to what a major league sports player, a high up executive in a major company, or even a high street design agency turning out corporate identities and websites, makes dong what they do.

In the west we pay people with top level skills top level money and the companies they work for usually stick on a healthy percentage on top of that.
