Suggestions, links for good comparison or brands and models to suggest.
I'm looking for something for the window as my current dwelling is temporary.

I saw this for 200$ on Amazon: Haier HWR10XC6
Seem a little inexpensive for a 10k AC.

Your input is appreciated.

Throw some gold bond on your nuts.

I used that on my balls once. It felt freezing for an hour, holy shit that was somewhat unpleasant.

Dude, just go to home depot and buy one. With the time you spent doing research online for one you could have rolled out a new campaign and banked more than $200 anyways so why bother? lol

Anyways... I just picked up a 10k BTU for $200 the other day. It's an LG and it gets the job done.

Good luck bro

I bought two Frigidaire units at Lowe's last year that were fairly inexpensive and work really well. They have a high energy star rating, which is very important, and you want to go for the highest rating you can find. Brands like Haier often have poorer energy consumption numbers, and wouldn't be energy star rated.

My $99 Haier Wal-Mart 8k BTU is....

Shit i'd love to be able to buy a AC for that. Are you guys talking about window mount or split unit?

I need a 12k BTU split for my office... $500 + install down here in CR. Samsung or Panasonic are my choices.

Samsung has a 3 year "IN HOME" warranty but my buddy who sells them says he's had 10 out of 35 or so have a problem.

Panasonic only has a 1 year "IN FACTORY" warranty, my buddy says out of 30 he hasn't heard of a problem with even one of them but those cock suckers if something did happen won't come to your house to fix it, yes that's right take it down and take it in.

So I think i'd rather take the risk with the Samsung since it's an extra 2 years and they will come in ... Not like it will cost me more if there is a problem.

What about the Commando 8? 12 thousand BTU's of raw cooling power.

easy to install too...

Right now it's just a window AC. When I get a more permanent place then i'll get a split or central.

Right now I found this real nice place but it's OLD! There are cracks in the wall that date from the 1906 earth quake here in the Bay Area. However it's cozy and 2 blocks from downtown. :) No DUI when returning from favorite watering hole
