LOST : No Spoiler Alert

They don't answer anything because they can't. I guarantee that the writers are as confused as we are. They made up so much weird mystical shit to create thrills during all the seasons, that there is no reasonable explanation which could tie it all together at the end. So they just leave it at that.

I am a huge lost fan, I just always expected that there was some deeper meaning that we weren't shown yet that the writers had in mind. I'm just disappointed how obvious it is now that the writers had no clue what they were doing all along =[

Thank you.

Even though I wasn't technically a faithful follower since S1 (I watched S3 when it aired), if I was I think I'd still be slightly disappointed. I just feel if even the writers don't know what's going on, how am I expected to fully enjoy it all? I watched LOST because I thought there was a purpose to everything...but there's simply not or else they would explain SOME of the crazy twists they fed us.

Ditto. I just wanted some basic things answered.

Maybe I missed it but:
What exactly is the island? Or should I just take it at face value and just accept that it is what they showed us?

Why could you only get on and off it a certain way that only dharma and some others knew about. Why was it invisible to others.

How could the whole island be transported somewhere else by turning a wheel? Am i just supposed to accept strange electromagnetism as the answer?

I mean why is the island so special?
Why did it need protecting so bad that that bitch would kill her son? What is the light? What would happen if it was no longer protected?

And lots more important stuff.

It all seemed too symbolic to take at face value.
I might not even be that bothered by it if I hadn't heard the whole time that the writers knew exactly what the island was from season 1 and that all would be revealed eventually.
The writers and directors actually did lead people on to believe this I think.

But ya, i'm convinced they had no idea the whole time or that the island was Purgatory and they changed the ending at the last moment because Purgatory was too obvious.

I mean I'm not angry or anything, I just feel teased.

Yeah, as far as we know the island was just an island.

Why could you only get on and off it a certain way that only dharma and some others knew about. Why was it invisible to others.

We don't know, for some reason only a select certain people could find it.

How could the whole island be transported somewhere else by turning a wheel? Am i just supposed to accept strange electromagnetism as the answer?

Yep.

I mean why is the island so special?

Well the island was so special because it was pretty much the point of the entire show. It's where ALL the time was spent for the most part.

Why did it need protecting so bad that that bitch would kill her son? What is the light? What would happen if it was no longer protected?
.

Since fire erupted from the core of the Island, I guess we're meant to assume that literally all Hell would break loose. Some sort of 'God' keeping 'Satan' in 'Hell'. In w/e LOST terms they put it in but didn't explain.

Because I'm bored...

The island is the one place in the universe that houses the "light". The light is the source of all life, death, rebirth, and time.

Why could you only get on and off it a certain way that only dharma and some others knew about. Why was it invisible to others.

The protector of the island makes the rules on who can come and go. It was hidden the way it was because that's how Jacob ran things.

How could the whole island be transported somewhere else by turning a wheel? Am i just supposed to accept strange electromagnetism as the answer?

The wheel opened up a small cavity in the wall of a cave, which released some of the source. It released a enough of the source to effect time.

I mean why is the island so special?

See above. If the island wasn't protected, men of the world would come and try to control it. "Humans covet the source because a little bit of the very same light is inside every man—"but they always want more". While humans are incapable of taking the light, their attempts to do so could put it out. And if the light goes out there... it goes out everywhere."

Ya, I don't know. For some reason when Star Trek tells me they're using WARP speed I don't feel i need more explanation. But when Lost tells me the light is the source of all life, death, rebirth, and time I feel I need more info.

Maybe it was all much more of a paranormal/spiritual sci-fi than I expected it to be and that's why I was waiting for less spiritual/magical answers.

I guess I'll just accept the show as more of a Harry Potter/Fantasy deal than a regular sci-fi. I never ask for explanations to why Harry's spells work.
