Been listening to his stuff lately and although he does too much gay humor for my taste, most of his bits are pretty good.

Indeed.

Check out his shows if you get a chance. Lucky Louie (From HBO a few years ago, kind of a modern version of the honeymooners.) and Louie (his current show on FX.)
 
Louis CK is basically George Carlin for stupid people.

That said, I really enjoy his humor. He's one of the few comedians that actually gets me laughing uncontrollably, and I appreciate his honest outlook on a lot of things.

Definitely in my top 5 comedians list.

You're on the wrong forum if you've got a problem with "gay humor."
 
Last thing I watched of him was the stand up DVD with him in the center of a circular stage which really turned me off him. Didn't finnish it and doubt I'll watch his stand up again. I hated his smirking face as he talked about disgusting topics as if he was proud of the fact and thinking he was "edgy". Give me Doug Stanhope over Louie any day.
 
Just finished Lucky Louis, took a while to get into but had its moments. Fan of his stand up though. Missed his tour here recently but heard it was good as well.
 
Didn't like Lucky Louis, some of his standup is alright, but really loved Louie, especially season 2.

Shit. I didn't know he toured here... Would have been up for that!

Just like to mention - Parks & Recreation... absolutely excellent. One of the funniest comedies I've seen in a long time. Only just into series 3 now, and it's just getting better.

(yeah I know he was only in it for a short while)

his material is usually more gross than funny. people are laughing because he's telling the joke, not because the joke is particularly funny...
