Investing in science is just that... a fucking investment. We generally get some value back in terms of new technology and shit.

It's way better than the alternative of food stamps and war.

Mars Mission: $2.5 billion - Do you think it was a good idea compared to alternative uses of cash?

If you managed America's money and had to work in the best interest of its citizens, would you put $2.5 billion towards this mission?

I won't ask any leading questions. Let's get a real poll.

Why aren't you all pissy about the trillions spent by the military on bullshit wars? The billions squandered by your banks? Why the hard on for a measly couple of billion spent on science? There's no end to the list of places you can look to stop gross spending by the gov't yet you focus on NASA. The US used to be first in the world in other things besides bombing browns in the dessert. It might be time to get back there and this is a pretty good step in the right directions and an investment in your future.

Its a great investment. Someone has to be the first Nation to be the dominate military force in space - why not us?

Plus just imagine Martian CTR's for dating white bitches!!!

lol $2.5 billion is about $8 each. WAAAAAAAAAHHHHH

If we use it as a relay point we can go further and further.

I know curiosity is looked down upon by my inbred countrymen, so sorry, go cry about it.

Well I don't really see the value in going to Mars aside from exploration, which in it's own has some usages and yes the tech which may one day or another make it back down the chain but you know some corp will end up with it and charge us a small fortune for it.

I think 2.5 billion could be used to develop a source of energy that is cheap and accessible to the world. Welfare, Food Stamps and War are a waste.

I personally think that a better use of the funds would be to put it into medical advancements, i.e. cancer cures, stem cell treatments etc.

You think you could develop a new source of energy for 2.5 billion, and roll it out accross the world?

Are you on fucking crack?

So all these liberals that were hiding in the closet came out to vote in this poll? If you want to spend money on Mars, donate your own money and go fuck yourself.

I lied that I wouldn't take a stand because it's so blatantly obvious that there is no imminent need and it is theft.

The new master troll in this forum is Than_West. Congratulations!

I think the Mars Mission is really cool and i'm glad we are continuing to explore the planets around us.

Having said that, I think the catalyst that will drive rapid space exploration and colonization is space mining. The second it becomes breakeven/profitable to mine other planets/moons, we are going to see a huge surge into space.

Does anyone know whether we have been able to detect rare metals on the moon? That'd be interesting to know.

Yea fuck investing in technology. Fuck using this stupid internet technology too. If my tiny brain can't think of the obvious reasons for it, it must hot have any potential to impact me.

Fuck LED technology.
Fuck Baby Food.
Fuck the Insulin pump.
Fuck the 1500+ other products in stores originating in nasa research.

Fuck This:
Verification Tools Secure Online Shopping, Banking
Fuck this:
Algorithms developed by a NASA researcher that are enabling technology for medical diagnosis and prediction of brain blood flow-related conditions such as stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injury
Fuck this:
drag-reducing wing modifications that have already saved commercial airlines more than 2 billion gallons in jet fuel
Fuck this:
Inflatable antennas -- developed with NASA funding -- that support essential communication needs in remote areas during military operations, as well as in disaster zones
And especially this:
Image sensors, invented by a NASA team, that are now featured in one out of every three cell phone cameras
And this:
A groundwater remediation compound, created by NASA to treat contaminated launch facilities, now being used to clean up polluted areas around the world

Double fuck this:
"Through NASA's work with its commercial partners, technologies that are helping us explore our universe are now also saving lives, preserving our environment and enhancing our nation's transportation and security,"

Triple fuck this:

Yeah, fuck all those liberals who support such stupid shit amiright?

imo money be better spent on earth, like renewable energy and other stuff to make earth last longer, not if there's life or not on mars asked a billion times

You can invest in technology without taking $2.5B gambles in the hopes of finding something. The two aren't mutually expensive.

Those that are crediting all these inventions solely to space missions are lying to themselves or honestly believe that bullshit.

Why not put $2.5T in it? Why stop at $2.5B? Liberals, why don't we just strip you of your personal property since you obviously don't mind these selfless missions?

No you're just an idiot.

Nasa does research here in preparation for space travel. They license technology to business who makes products you utilize.
