I see exact domains hit - and holy shit, there are some good & big sites hit.

If you was not thr authority for that term, then there is a good chance you got tanked.

seems like this update was:

if you have keywords in your domain name AND your pages have less than 500 words = SLAP

exception given to all youtube pages

Site #1: 3 word EMD, 2 pages ~500 words piece. #1 before update, #1 after update
Site #2: "Brandish" sort of domain name (not EMD), 25+ pages, 1k+ words per page. Rankings lost on many if not all keywords, doesn't rank for its "EMD" term either (think ebay.com not ranking for "ebay").

Not sweating it since I already know how to fix it. Just sharing something I found interesting/mildly humorous.
 
Of course is ebay.com ranking at #1 for ebay :-)

Even the adwords add on the top is from them.

Oh, i see one of my older trashsites... Its an EMD but for sub keywords in the URL i match 2 parts of the 3 match too..

Like XYZ/aYZ/ and XYZ/bYZ...

Ok, google seems to hate that now like nothing.
Well, its ok, i hated that too.

Well crap I got a PM asking me how to fix it... I didn't really mean to allude that I know some secret or something. I just meant adding more links and content :)

I don't understand why your #2 site would have gotten hit by this update...

Same here. My "brandish" domain names with tons of content and over 750+ word articles were penalized while my thin EMD sites did not change at all.
 
^^ so have we concluded that this was once again a psychology ploy by the ever so cunning Cutts to polarize what is actually working really well still?
