One of the things that pisses me off about Fox News is they have their scroller on the bottom like everyone else, but sometimes they will blink this red graphic 'Alert!', and is always for stupid shit like "Obama plays round of golf".
They all thought they were being slick by "going social," but if you go on their websites and look at their stories, the comment section on a lot of them is largely calling bullshit on the authors. Even when they try to do reputation management in their comment sections, it's nowhere near enough to drown it out.
These channels also go to a lot of effort to make things appear impromptu, like they are just sitting in a lounge having a conversation. This is where they work their magic when traditional programming fails. Just like when Hollywood demonstrates to people how to behave in any conceivable situation, the news channels are demonstrating how to behave when you are with your friends having a discussion about politics or current events.
But the biggest problem is that people can't differentiate between a 'story' that originates from the network itself, or if it's a paid placement by an outside source. A lot of 'interviews' are actually bought and paid for by a political campaign or PR firm. This film helps to point them out:
