Microsoft Surface: anyone haz it?

That is probably the gayest commercial ever lol

CLICK CLICK CLICK

but in all seriousness, i'm going to get one and love it. I am just worried about how much I will actually be able to do on it..

Microsoft's commercials have always been ubergay. Here's the official keynote for those that want to know all the details about this tablet:

I can certainly get more work done on this thing than on an iPad. Call me old school but I just NEED a keyboard to type fast and efficiently.

Yeah but it doesn't attach nicely like the surface, which looks amazingly thin even with the keyboard attached to it.

The iPad just hasn't been designed to be used with a keyboard.

yeah because it's a tablet. If it were designed to be used with a keyboard it would just be a laptop

Have to see this new tablet looks pretty impressive. Love the keyboard that you can attach to it. (I hate typing on a touch screen, always have)

Seems like a slick design too...

This is why advertising makes me feel bad a lot of the time. People fall for this ridiculousness. Flashy colors, music, and dancing gets their attention, and for some retarded reason they end up associating this tablet with having fun and being popular and all this fashion crap. Blows my mind how stupid some people really are.

Stop feeling bad and use that information to make more money.

So I walked into the local Microsoft store today and played with the Surface RT. The place was packed, but no one was buying one... After playing with it for 10 minutes I realized why: It crashed TWICE on me.

These RT models, with their little ARM processors, are under-powered crap. Add to this the fact that they have like 5 programs in their app store and you can't install any other kind of software on them, and fuck, they're literally, completely useless... Just a huge desk clock.

Between the 2 keyboards I liked the thicker (type) board better with it's mechanical keys, because between the 2 keyboards, it was the only one to register more than half of my keystrokes.

...Naturally this keyboard costs extra though, whereas the thinner keyboard (touch) comes with most models of the surface.

Oh yeah, then there is this, too:
Businesses can't use Office on Windows RT tablets!? | ZDNet

Apparently you aren't legally allowed to use the surface RT in the businessplace, because of the software licensing restrictions! Have you ever heard of shit like this before?

I really can't believe MS did such a SHITTY job. This makes them look like ameteurs, and holiday sales on MS hardware is going to be in the absolute toilet.

I might give their surface Pro a chance, but that won't come before I move or before Christmas, so fuck... MS has screwed themselves really good.

Whomever there came up with the idea for the surface RT needs to be fired, period. They never should have deviated from the mission of a full computer the size of a tablet, which the Pro version still has a chance of achieving.

Aside: My wife got one of the first iPad minis... Won't arrive soon but they apparently sold out in 27 minutes from their online store... Microsoft really blew this launch epicly.

All this and more, I can't emphasize to people enough that this RT version of the surface is running a new core version of windows built for ARM, and fucking NOTHING works with it except the few apps at launch and the OS itself is buggy as fuck.

I have heard that the new Windows 8 tablets running the x86 version are pretty sleek, but then again you have to deal with software that isn't optimized for touch 85% of the time.

The reason the iPad is such an enjoyable experience and people love them is because everything is tablet optimized, the OS, the Apps everything. (Which I complained about when the iPad first launched because I wanted OSX, but now realized that would have been a huge mistake).

Tablets are for watching movies and looking at twitter if you want to get any ACTUAL work done, just get a laptop, or desktop.
