Moot raises $625k for the lulz

I can only imagine what kind of shit he has planned with 625k

According to an SEC filing, 4chan founder Christopher “Moot” Poole has raised $625,000 in funding for a stealth startup called Canvas Networks. We’ve emailed Poole to confirm the funding. 4chan is an online bulletin board where anyone can post comments, expound on topics and share images. Poole was featured as one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world last year.
As of March, 4chan was receiving around 8.2 million unique visitors per month. Poole told the New York Times’ Nick Bilton that the site receives an average of 800,000 new posts a day. He also told Bilton that a Japanese toy store offered him $45,000 for 4chan, which he denied.
In the same interview, Poole said he was “working on a new project to reimagine what an image board should be today using the current technologies available” We’re assuming that Canvas Networks is related to this.

45k? LOL. 4Chan with all of it's "newfags" and "oldfags" is almost like an internet mafia. They can kill your internet presence, create havoc or utterly destroy you with their attacks. 45k isn't even an offer; it's an insult.

45k? For 4Chan? Really??!

most influential person in the world = #1

not?

Since you don't know how to use a search engine, I'll give you the link.

"In a stunning result, the winner of the third annual TIME 100 poll and new owner of the title World's Most Influential Person is moot. The 21-year-old college student and founder of the online community 4chan.org, whose real name is Christopher Poole..."

So yes, most influential person in the world = #1

How he earned that distinction is another story...

Well, for one, he could completely ruin someones life by pointing a finger at them. That's gotta feel good.

At the core of the hack is the work of a dozen or so, backed by an army of a thousand who downloaded and ran the autovoters and also backed by an untold number of others that unwittingly fell prey to the spam url autovoters. So why do they do it? Why do they write code, build complex applications, publish graphs – why do they organize a team that is more effective than most startup companies? Says Zombocom: “For the lulz”.

idk, 2ch makes a good chunk of money. I'm surprised there isn't a more mainstream version of it yet. You have all the *chans but they still kind of have that stigma.

2channel (2ちゃんねる ni channeru?, 2ch for short) is a Japanese Internet forum, thought to be the largest Internet forum in the world.[3][4][5] Launched in 1999, it has gained significant influence in Japanese society, comparable to that of traditional mass media such as television, radio, and magazines.[6][7][8] As of 2008, the site generates revenue upwards of ¥100 million per year for its founder Hiroyuki Nishimura.[2] It is legally operated under PACKET MONSTER INC, a company based in Telok Ayer, Singapore.[9][10][11] However, management is done in former and weirdy straw ZERO Co.Ltd. based in Sapporo, Japan.
