Not true at all actually. There was a study that showed that women prefer hairier and rougher looking men when they were closer to ovulation.

what women prefer doesn't really count if your game is tight. Also, depends on the type of beard. Some men look hot with 3 day beards, no homo.
 
My wife and a lot of women I know prefer some facial hair or scruff.

I spent the first 30+ years of my life being clean shaven ( other than an ill-advised Amish looking beard and a ridiculous thin jawline beard in my late teens), and I really thought it was better to look "clean cut"- for personal and professional reasons. I was wrong.

When I grew a beard people started taking me more seriously and I got a lot lot more attention from women.

I may be out of touch with what girls like these days. I mean if you are into young girls who spend their time debating the hunkiness of hairless Twilight characters or some shit, I can't help you there. But I find a large percentage of fuckable WOMEN prefer a more "rugged" look, especially when they are looking to fuck.
 
Beards are great if they are maintained and they look right on your face. Nothing worse than a man trying to sport a beard that's thin and scraggly. But maybe that's because I teach teenagers who love to grow out that peach fuzz they call a beard to show how "manly" they are. LOL
