Movies Suck Nowadays!

I haven't been in to all the Harry Potter movies, but I have to say, I saw the latest one in IMAX 3D and it took my breath away. Seriously some of the best CG/real life mix I have ever seen. Now I know what it must have been like to see the first Star Wars when it first came out. It was bar none, the most well-designed movie I've ever seen (in terms of what showed up on the screen.) It's worth seeing just for that. The movie plot/characters were pretty good, too, although not all of it would make sense to non-HP junkies--I'd recommend seeing at least the previous one right before you go to this one.

Here are some good movies I watched recently you might not have seen.. all amazing movies, my favs in bold.

Once Were Warriors - 1994
Pi - 1998
Proposition
Mesrine - Killer Instinct Part1 (sickkk french gangster movie w subs)
Mesrine - Public Enemy Part2
Shaolin 2011 (amazing)
Bedevilled (japanese w subs)

Millers Crossing
Flight of the phoenix (original and remake are good)
Sands Of The Kalahari (1965)

The new Harry Potter was fucking sick. Horrible Bosses was good for a few laughs. I still want to see Captain America while it's in theaters.

Stop watching Hollywood movies.

You should watch French movies. Especially those that have Audrey Tautou.

I just watched Priceless (2006). Very good.

I've got a love/hate relationship with Hollywood. I go for years at a time either forsaking all hollywood movies and then forsaking all NON-hollywood movies, because neither one of them does everything right and I find one of the two groups more annoying for a year or three.

Right now I'm back on hollywood movies, because I HATE watching a movie and feeling afterwards like it wasn't concluded or leaves me feeling dirty/messed-up/anything other than satisfied.

I only watch ones that people like you guys would recommend. I'll likely see Potter, transformers, and Super 8, but If one ends badly I'll be pissed off and have to watch another until I see it end Ok.

The thing about movies is that they are so subjective, so you never really know what to expect / whether or not you will like it. Everyone has different strings that when pulled right, just end up working for them.

Think about how many movies have been made since the history of film-making, and how many of those you actually like. There is likely to be millions of movies out there if you count all the small independent films. A person might like maybe 10-50, depending on what standards they set for considering a film to be "good," and this is all subjective.

I don't watch a ton of movies at the theater, but I really like what Marvel is doing these days. Watched both Thor and Captain America and enjoyed both thoroughly.

dont most of the good movies come out in winter time anyway? i always thought thats when the better ones are released, could be wrong

american cinema is horrid and has been for many years.

they put out maybe 1 "good" film a year imo.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a reboot (a good one as well). Senna and Super 8 are two highly rated recent movies you didn't mention.

Prometheus and The Dark Knight Rises will be huge next year. BTW, is it only American directors that can make great movies these days? Think someone is forgetting Christopher Nolan.

Start following directors instead of actors. Directors are usually the key to success, and successful actors follow them.
