Movies Suck Nowadays!

Movies Suck Nowadays!
Exactly what I thought this weekend when I wanted to go to the movies!

Finally watched The Lincoln Lawyer and liked it very much, but it was playing only in one of the many theaters of the city and in the smallest cinema they had.

People get what they deserve! So because they watch those stupid mainstream movies that's what we're getting solely now. Makes me wanna push more of that acai and hcg offers to them, they deserve it :action-smiley-052:

Super 8 was just ET for the 2000s crowd of kids that hadn't seen it before.

It was 'meh' at best.

The U.S. movie industry must be completely out of original ideas since they are now starting to remake 80's movies that are considered to be good or "classics" by many people.

They already remade "The Karate Kid" with no karate.

Lionsgate announced that they will be remaking Dirty Dancing.

Footloose with music from Three 6 Mafia should be coming out soon.

You still watch American movies, haha. Foreign movies is where it's at. Fuck Hollywood, it's all remakes or the same trite plot.

Watch this:

I've seen a few good foreign films, but here are the ones I'd rate at least 7/10
But if you need action, I'd recommend the first two, and you'll will probably hate the last two.

A Prophet
Harry Brown (British)
City Of God
Head On
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The Lives of Others
Departures

I'm curious. How do you guys choose the films you watch?

- look at RT ratings?
- see an actor you like in a starring role?
- rely on trailers?
- word of mouth?
- reviews from critics?
- anything from a specific genre/language/etc.?

Chances are, you have a system for everything you do that is related to marketing. Do you guys have a system for choosing films?

I'm rarely disappointed by the movies I see. But I use a system that has proven to be effective over the years. :)

Do you?

There are few certainties in life ... death, taxes & erect getting involved in every movie thread. Fucking junkie that guy

First things first

Shitty, shitty movie but it's worth suffering through because the badassery that is Jason Segel. Also, Cameron diaz is one sexy beast.

Get ready, I'm going to suck your dick like I'm mad at it.

Upon first viewing of vanilla sky, I probably watched that scene 10 times

... it might have something to do with my unhealthy obsession with Rose Byrne

Same obsession since creeping her after watching Troy. There is something wholesomely naughty about this girl.

I haven't been in to all the Harry Potter movies, but I have to say, I saw the latest one in IMAX 3D and it took my breath away. ... I'd recommend seeing at least the previous one right before you go to this one.

HP V7.2 was a very good movie. It's worthy of watching even if you've never seen the previous 7. I'd strongly suggest not watching the previous one as you'll never consider watching teh most recent. If you want context before seeing it, this one to watch is order of the phoenix. It appeals to grownups the most (starts to get pretty dark) and the cg was great. Voldemort & ddore's fight at the end will probably go down as the most epic wizard duel on the silver screen, although a little short for my taste.

Transformers was the best of the trilogy by far, it's worth a see if you're into regressing a bit and watch hot women and epic robots destroy each other. there's value there

I'm anxious for

30 Minutes or Less (2011) - IMDb

and

Cloud Atlas (2012) - IMDb

the wachowski brothers have not made a bad movie yet. Speed racer was even badass.

I've always followed actors (moreso than actresses) and writers/directors.

Previews mean more to me than random critics opinions ... I've been burned more than a few times listening to my instincts here.

I can say that anytime more than 3-4 WFers recommend a movie I will watch it. You guys are very eccentric ... but so am I. After all, this is where I get my news too.

These are the kinds of mainstream Hollywood movies from the past that I miss seeing:

Dead Poet's Society
Scent Of a Woman
Forrest Gump
An Officer And A Gentleman
The Big Chill
Ordinary People
Shawshank Redemption

We need more films like this and less...shit.

That's crazy that they're gonna remake Dirty Dancing!!! They need to leave classics alone, it shouldn't be touched! They're gonna ruin it! Ya I agree movies aren't as good as they have been. They need to hire some new creative people.
