he said his silent partner bought it, not Jon himself

and that domain movievault.com has been for sale for several years now, I'm sure Jon would've bought it already if he thought it's worth it
 
Didn't know Jon bought it. In my opinion, if it's taken care of carefully, it has a huge potential to become a money-maker. First thing they should do is change that layout.
 
Movie-Vault.com was Tyler's, Jon and his silent partner bought that for $50k. Movievault.com is just another domain
 
my point being, if movie-vault.com WITH the dash is a really popular site... then, wouldn't you think movievault.com WITHOUT the dash gets some pretty damn good type in traffic? or will in the future if Jon (and his buds or partners or whoever) are actively promoting the site?

It will. I grab band domains all the time when they go with dashes and leave the normal domain name. When I ran a store I earned a customer from one site that spent thousands with me, sweet stuff! I've gotten thousands upon thousands of hits to this day from it.

Jon, I'm curious, wouldn't you consider it a wise move for you and your partner to secure the other domain as well?

That is a developed site that sold for $50k..from what I understand Jon ownsthe one without the dash

but how much does it cost you to buy those band domains? $10?

this one is $5,000 and the only traffic it gets is from type-ins

your bands promote themselves, but there is nothing to promote movievault.com other than movie-vault.com

am I saying it's stupid to buy it? not really, I'd buy it.. but at no more than $1k

If Jon has the $$ he says he does, his $5g compared to my $10 is comparable hehe. It seems If Jon and his partner are willing to purchase the site as it is for $50k, that they have some plans to really build it out. $5g for the other domain may very well be worth grabbing, but that's just my 2 pennies worth.

I see what you're saying,

I guess if you're a shomeoney or a Jon then it's worth it. but if you're a smaller guy, that $5k can be put into much better ideas
