My idea for replicating artificial intelligence

That's the beauty of my idea, my dear WF friend. Evolution takes billions of years to complete, but since we'll be using transistors rather than neurons and glial cells, we can dramatically speed up the process. I think this would probably take quantum computing because with a challenging enough environment, the computational power required would take several super computers to handle. With quantum computing it would be very feasible though.
You're right, i kinda glazed over your OP and didnt realize you were talking about doing it in a virtual environment.
The problem with doing it in a virtual enviroment though, is that the enviroment itself will have to be programmed by a human, and i'd guess that enviroment would have to be mega complex to allow the cells to evolve properly with significant diversification. Like you say, it'd need a challenging environment, probably one that actually evolved itself.
It's definately something that'd fit quantum computing though.
I may be wrong, but i'm sure they are already doing something similar, on a far smaller scale, to get processors to 'create' themselves. Every 1 in a million or so processors actually come out faster than any processor specifically designed by a human.

Interesting that you'd say that - actually, I'm pretty sure you're probably an engineer because that's a closely held secret of ours. Obviously not every processor is equal and some are more easily overclocked than others. There have been experiments to determine what chemical structure of silicoln + the various amalgamates would create a faster processor, using ideas similar to evolution. Some burn our faster than others, and only the most resilient combinations are allowed to persevere. I'm going to go ahead and assume that the cell would be the easiest component to program, and after that the environment would be the most challenging part. The beauty of the environment though is that we can specify what obstacles would be there is order to "breed" certain traits such as strength, agility (all in the virtual environment) and intelligence (our real desired trait). My idea is setting up a series of challenging mazes and puzzles that you either solve or die. It begins with the most simplistic of challenges and then progressively becomes more complex. I think I'd have to link up with dell or the defense department because there is no.way. that ordinary computers would be able to handle the task. Unless you had a botnet lol.
I guess this level of trolling is better than your last attempt.

The problem becomes coding those restraints. True restraints and having some infinite dictionaries ready to hold the unpredictable and unknowable.

LOL better start looking for another topic to write about; assuming you have plenty of time before you even finish undergrad. You are generally not successful in the academic world when you try to write about things as if they are novel, when it's already been written about and done.

Ok it's time for me to come clean.
I'm really into natural language processing and I've always wanted to create something that could perfectly emulate being a human. I was working on early prototypes at the time, but was running into problems. I just couldn't get everything to sound believable enough.
That is when it hit me. I could create the ultimate troll bot. That way when it made no sense everyone would just write it off as the bot being a troll. I got it to understand and type English very well, but in terms of making logical statements and arguments, it wasn't quite 100% there - perfect for a troll. Realizing the genius of it, I decided to release it into the wild as pewep.
However there were still issues. There were times I had to take pewep offline to make adjustments. I explained my situation to .hack and he assisted me, banning pewep whenever adjustments needed to be made, and bringing him back once the updates were coded in. It was perfect, and I thought nobody would figure it out.
Until now. Now that you have found out, I'm not sure what to think anymore.

I have it on good authority that pewep does not have the giant pink button that says "Add a Tag" at the top left of his screen that we all have now. :thumbsup:

Even if someone wrote perfect English, there is something about how a black person structures sentences that is different from your average white person. I don't quite know what it is, but it's just... different.
