Myspace Ads

my conversions have been absolute garbage on this - and I'm running exactly the type of offers that convert with this crowd anywhere else but on myspace. Guess we can't all be Cakes.

well, working for me - clicks went off like a rocket, counting got as high as 5 a minute.

epc over a couple hundred clicks - $1.41 ave cpc 0.26 nice

there's gold in them thar hills! :)

edit - i should have added i tried 6 offers - 5 tanked. i'll try another 5 tomorrow and scale todays winner

Okay, I entered a new credit card and they've stopped serving me impressions. Although just a few hours ago I was getting several clicks every minute. Has anyone else had their credit card decline a transaction? If so, how long did the impact last after the previously denied charge was processed?

I have had this problem now twice - both times I thought I maxed the cards, but it turned out to be 'security getting worried' - this is a big problem with myspace ads, seemingly once they decline a card on your acc, even if you get that card to go through again, they stop the impressions. They stopped impressions on me in the middle of what was still a $9k day!

The only way I found of getting over it was to create another account and start again. It sucks balls, as I had to wait for approval etc et again, costing me a lot of time and money on what was a successful campaign. I've emailed them several times asking them to turn the acc's back on, they emailed back once saying it was all fine - still no impressions.

Moral of the story? Always have a backup account with ads ready to run! The issue needs resolving though at their end, its frustrating as hell.

Are they allowing more accounts?

Did you take any precautions when setting up a second account? I was hoping that the clicks would start flowing in again the next day - being today - after the decline, but this doesn't appear to be the case. The worst part of the entire situation is that Facebook stopped sending traffic as well for reasons beyond me.

Out goes $1k daily due to my bank's screw-up.

I was hoping the same thing as you...and a week on, I'm still hoping! The message you get indicates they 'pause' all your campaigns when the cc declines - problem is, they never seem to unpause when payment does go through. Like I said, I have sent a number of emails about this and never got a proper answer - in fact they told me ads were showing again! Errr...they certainly aren't, as per your experience.

I just created a new account with the exact same payment information and creatives, less the one's that weren't lucrative. I've still left the campaigns on my other account unpaused, in case MySpace decides to fix their system. Hopefully I can get the creatives on the new account approved by Monday. This is such a fucking pain though!

Remember boys and girls: Don't be lazy, and pay your credit card bills before you hit the limit!

That was the most annoying part - I wasn't even too near the limit! They didnt even phone me before denying the transaction either. Me getting mad and calling them a bunch of nudgers (UK slang for gay) probably didn't help :D I now check the balance at least twice daily and clear it in full to avoid this in the future!

My online credit card statement takes at least two days before the transactions are updated. Plus, since I'm using a USD credit card to save on foreign currency exchange rates and fees - I can only pay my bill by either giving them a call or personally going to the bank.

Getting lucrative campaigns is hard enough, and then they throw all these hassles at us.

Actually, yeah, the transaction time-lag is also a problem - I am checking for and paying transactions from a couple days before. The USD c/card is a good idea though, will look into that.

Absolutely agree, this is difficult enough without having to worry about this shit!!

Heres a question for all the UK guys living in 90210 :)

The suggested bid price is in $ but I have a feeling the actual costs are in £ can anyone confirm this - have you been billed yet and has it been in £.

Obviously this will make a huge difference in potential for ROI.

I would know this myself if my ads ever got any FUCKING CLICKS!

ah man don't say that, that will really ruin my whole day. i haven't been billed yet so no idea.

can anyone confirm?

im thinking its true... checked on the campaign settings and it shows figures in £

£0.25 min bid = $0.50 min bid = shite beyond shite.

PPC traffic will be less expensive for some niches.

@mediastar100

i just checked the campaign main page and an individual campaign edit page and all my figures are in USD.
Budget Amount: $xxx.xx Bid:$x.xx xxxxx estimated clicksare you sure its not just the way you have windows setup?

i'm in thailand with a pc setup in usd (control panel-regional and language settings) but as only us citizens are supposed to advertise why would they ever bill in GBP. we're not supposed to advertise anyway!

i'm more worried about my cc being declined at billing. (going to ring my bank first thing pre-authorize)

well its giving me £ on the campaign summary page.

Also - my cc was billed £1 to check that it was a valid card.

We need someone to chip in here....

What if you don't have any approved ads yet and wanted to change credit card? How would that going to be treated going forward? Anyone tried that yet? I replaced my original one with a higher limit credit card.

Heres the message im getting when I try and use tinyurl for the url.

The original url was not being accepted -

Other - Ads must not redirect users to other websites (users may only be taken to the landing page without additional pop-unders).. For more information please contact us

The url i was trying to use was rejected.

Sorry for all the questions tonight... determined to get this working once and for all.

Dave

I just put my first batch of ads up. I was a little hesitant in the beginning because of all the mixed reviews, I figure screw it though I might as well jump in head first.

Is everyone using a landing page or are you sending them directly to the offer page? I can see how sending them directly to the offer page might be more beneficial through a medium like myspace. When I am running offers on Traffic sources with short attention spans it seems that straight linking to the offer ussually converts better.
