exaggerated thread title, the actual findings are probably something like "the Xth moon of the 12th planet in this solar system 3452 light years away contains oxygen and frozen water"

Do you have any idea how awesome it would be to discover life, even if it is as insiginicant as shitty bacteria, on another world.
It would call for a day of meditation, not a session or moment, but an entire day.
It would be the first proper use of the word 'epic'.

Books will be rewritten, the internet will be awash with new meme's, the world will be...forever changed.

It really wouldn't disprove anything. The Bible just says that God made us in his image. It didn't say our world is the only one with life.
Who's to say that he didn't have other "projects" that he could have set up in order to test our faith in him years later after our technology improved? Just like the Dinosaurs, who's to say he didn't leave those fossils there from past playthings of his in order to test how we'll react?
Anyway, I'm not wanting to turn his thread into a religious discussion, but don't call people's beliefs shit because you think something has to be proven false just because you feel it revolves solely around being the only life in the universe.

Why not? I think religious beliefs are shit in the same way as I think racist beliefs are shit. People have a right to those personal beliefs, but that doesn't mean anyone has to respect the actual beliefs or ideas, especially when those ideas leave the personal realm and are indoctrinated into children at a societal level by organisations.
Christianity, Islam and Hinduism *are* shit explanations of the universe. Most of us *know* they're bad explanations. Part of our childhood indoctrination is to lend a false respect to these ideas, but that's a manipulative lie that we must all get out of our heads.

The universe is so old and evolution in timespan so small and so rapid that any beings out there if in existance in the same time period as is would likely find us grocery uninteresting imagine human technology 10 million years ahead now imagine an alien species with that tech advancement ( 10m is small btw in galaxy time ) looking at us - we are like ants doing futile stupid and uninteresting things
Just because you find them grocery uninteresting doesn't mean there aren't millions of humans who would. You know the people we put in space, they don't think like you, they can be entertained and curious about anything and everything.
This would also be the case with alien explorers, watch this video and tell me this guy wouldn't be interested in looking at another species from a different planet which has never been encountered before.

Just imagine human technology 10 million years from now - just 10 years ahead they would likely already be able to enhance your brain functions with x multiples of speed - there are already biocomputers FYI - let stand 10 million years all data and information is processed in virtual and no time by that same creature that was long ago referenced as human but no longer is in many perspectives we couldnt understand now. distance is only perception based from an outside observer not an inert observer
