Need a good digital SLR - recommendations?

for the zoom (whiskers!) try out a Amazon.com: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras: Camera & Photo (canon 75-300 f/4-5.6)

now, neither of these are high end lenses but i'd start here.. if you want to blow some money, grab this instead of the 75-300 Amazon.com: Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras: Camera & Photo (canon 100-400 L)

The Tamron 70-200 2.8 is supposed to be a very good lens.

I've heard googd things about them. For a good high end lab check out West Coast Imaging. Don't waste your money on a photo printer, they can't compete with a chromira or lightjet. You should get a colorimeter as well.

Check out what this guy does with a canon powershot g9.

What are you guys doing when you go to print some of these shots? Printing yourself - what kind of gear? Local service? Online service? Just curious.

Unless you have very specific requirements, the cost to print at home with any quality is insanely expensive, and to do it properly you need to do monitor and color calibrations.

And see if you have any local shops
