Hello,

I need to free up some space on my pc.

The folder Windows.old.000 contains almost 20 GB. I backup my personal stuff already, so can this folder be safely removed?

Thanks

If you've backed up everything: It would be better to wipe the disk and do a reinstall.

You can safely erase the file through the "disk cleanup" option in system tools, but wiping/reinstalling is the your best bet (because you've backed up your files.) Then you don't have to worry (as much) about registry problems in the near future.

WTF?

The Windows.old folder is basically a backup of your old OS files before you upgraded, I deleted that straight after. No idea why you still have that clogging up your HD.

I have one called Windows.old (which is empty) and one called Windows.old.000 (containing the 20 gb)

I have 1.5TB nearly full. However, my main drive is a 60gb ssd with win7 and all sorts of software. I prefer to whipe that drive every now and then to free up space.

They don't plus with a time machine you don't have to worry about backups and stuff, Macs are the only computers to have the time machine feature.
