Had my left index finger bitten by a lunatic this morning. Doesn't look like much, but managed to shred the nerve in it so badly that it probably can't be repaired.

I have an appointment with another surgeon, a specialist in this shit I guess, on Thursday so we'll see, but 'doesn't look good' is hardly encouraging. The cut doesn't even need stitches to close it (send pic is the cut above the damaged nerve).

It doesn't hurt, just a little sore, but is completely numb feels like when your leg goes to sleep sorta, I can't tell when I press a key, and using a game controller is impossible with that finger.

Obviously I'm being a little bitch, people with way worse shit get along just fine, but this is really freaking me out. Everything I do and enjoy requires my fingers.

Heh. I've also got a small cut on my face from a finger nail and a cut on my back from where the fucker tried to stab me with a pen. Luckily I had a this jacket on and two shirts beneath.

We'll just say I have some family that I only wish to see every couple of years, and that 'wish to see' and 'give money so they'll stop trying to find out where I live' are the same thing sometimes.
 
There are so many bonkers ass posts in WF that I chuckle at (or ignore), but this one is truly the first to make me go -- what in the fuck?

So, seriously... aside from you were bitten and pen-stabbed by a lunatic, how and where did this all happen?

Was this like a pissing match with you and an old lady over who reached the checkout at piggly wiggly first, or were you hunting down meth on the wrong side of town?

Lol Ok, so they send you to another surgeon five days later and all he could ever tell you is "Yea, this was a week ago. Dead tissue is dead, bro".

Nerve damage is fixable but nowhere near standard procedure yet. They can take nerves from some other place, usually the leg, but fingers being fingers, you won't end up with the same sensitivity.

At some point they'll probably tell you that it will remain numb; which is not true. You need to get to a decent city with doctors that haven't given up on their career.

Na, because it was severed and smashed they can't do anything for a couple days yet anyway.
 
I always thought the UFC would be a heck of a lot more entertaining if they allowed biting. They must have some crazy shit like that in Asia, right? Where can I find it?

Worste case you can still use your fingers with no feeling. Consider it a gift, you can now touch hot things, get stabbed or cut and not worry about your finger hurting.
