New Apple iPhone / iPod Announced

I can't wait to get one of these. And for the naysayers, even if you don't like their products, Apple totally has the marketing end of things down. Sure this seems expensive now, but the original iPod seemed expensive at the time. They will sell the shit out of these to people with money. Then next year they will drop the price on the main one, roll out a high end model and maybe even a nanophone with less features.

At the very least they have succeeded in making every other phone out there look out of date - and they have made their stockholders very happy.

Looks awesome, but a bit pricey for this phone. Low battery life (5 hours), and only cingular. (I'm near Vancouver, Canada and we dont have cingular.) I'll wait for the second generation, and try to find an unlocked phone on ebay.

That baby looks freaking awesome. The only thing I'm not thrilled about is it's lack of built in GPS technology. That would make it worth the price IMO.

Can I assume the June date is US only? It may be that when it comes to Canada there will be more wide-spread availability. As fewleftstanding said, we don't have Cingular in Canada. I would assume Rogers will get it though.

If you figure an iPod 4gb nano costs $199 and a newer PDA phone can run $199-$299, the iPhone priced at $499 for the combined features isn't really that bad. One is always going to pay a premium for an early adopter product.

Yeah, I just watched the whole keynote. These things are going to sell like crazy. I wasn't too sure if I was going to get one or not because of the price, but after watching the presentation... I need one.

too bad it only works on Cingular.. Meh.. I'll stick to my ipod video... too bad they couldn't put in a mini-harddrive and give it some decent storage. (or maybe they're just holding out so they have something to improve upon)

Well i got the Blackjack by cingular and that thing rocks. It doesnt have a big HD either but you can slap a SD Memory stick in it, surf the web, IM, camcorder, camera,XM radio,MP3 player, shits nice. But i do tell you what, although there doesnt seem like theres any protection for the screen, that is one sharp ass looking phone. And some people seem to think bad of Apple... but Steve Jobs is a fukn genius. No doubt about it!!
