NEW Facebook Ads

I think Facebook is trying to find out if I’m up to no good. I have to cloak all my foreign offers so they'll get approved. I do this thru one script on one domain. In addition, I can use multiple offers within this one script. I don't have anything else on this site but a iframed ringtone page that gets ZERO traffic. I noticed a few hits and was curious to where they came from. When I checked my referers it made me wonder if Facebook is looking into my ads. Has anybody seen these referrers before?

they are normal for ad approvals

My question is why are they going to mydomain.com and not using the cloaking script I'm using. They shouldn't show up in my traffic sources if they're just passing thru my cloaking script would they?

FWIW, my domain only consists of mydomain.com/index.php there are no other pages.

Does anyone else have the problem of Facebook not letting them resume some ads? For whatever reason, I'm not given the option of resuming after pausing ad campaigns.

Even with the Greasemonkey script, the option is there because of the script but I still can't 'resume'.

Does this have to do with ads being paused for too long?

It's sort of basic, but check to see whether or not you've got your whole campaign paused.

A couple months back, I spent the better part of an hour curseing Facebook for freezing some of my ads, when in reality I had just forgotten to turn the whole campaign back on. D'oh!

I actually see on average 4 intern/ad clicks from FaceBook per ad I'm waiting to get approved and yes I also just use 1 main domain as a re-direct.

I can't even get legit ads approved anymore, and FB went through and disapproved one of my dating ads where the girl was showing a little skin, nothing untame at all. It has honestly become a joke to work with them.

Haha well, they just yesterday threatened to disable my account entirely unless I personally go in and remove all my "questionable" ads - I think I pissed off a retro active ad hunting disapproval person... oops.

Any thoughts/suggestions from the great minds of WF?

I'd say pause your campaigns that are killing it (or the one's you think are causing a problem) and try to trim back all the ads in your account. This let's them know you've actually taken a bit of advice onboard and then you can unpause them in a week. Of course it's speculation because no one knows how the facebook system works from their end.

I paused all of my campaigns, except for one that is laser targeted and has been getting .29 CTR. I intend to look into alternate advertising channels that are not Google or FB for better conversion rates. The testing I did gave me a better sense of what can be pushed at FB, and what is DOA.

I got something out of the Yep! thread that created a bit of drama yesterday, and awaiting news on more advanced mobile offers because the old ones seem tapped out.

Thanks, WF, I lost money but learned a lot this week.

Facebook is so random, disapprove my ads for my legit offer.... approve a whole mess of ads I'm going to use to run IQ oh FB will you ever learn.

Keep working at it BlueYonder, you are right that certain products are best to push on facebook. Usually things that make the user get out there CC are not ideal. The exception being very targeted stuff, for example I've had some luck selling event tickets and will be going further down that road in the future. Right now I just have so much stuff I could be doing each day.

The key is to just try tons of ads to find one that gives you not only the CTR you need but converts how you need. I've started targeting a group of people of about 150k and my first slew of ads get between .15-.30 ctr but after a week of switching around I'm at .7-.9 jus try EVERYTHING and cut what doesn't work. What has worked best for me is targeting to keywords and spamming the keyword in the ad. Say you are targeting Jonas Brothers fans to buy Jonas Brothers tickets (don't try this as it would never work those fans don't buy there own tickets, you could however use this to get the attention of Jonas Brothers fans to push something else) your ad should have "Jonas Brothers" written 3-4 times to get the best ctr in my experience.

Make sure to try different pictures as well. If you are using picture of the Jonas Brothers for the previous ad make sure to try tons of different pictures. I've had the experience of two pictures of the same person/group while one has more than double the ctr.

I hope this helps and may my IQ offers kill today. I see some of you must still have some biz ops FB hasn't nuked or let through as a fluke.

I see your point. I paused everything 2 days ago - trying to show some good faith. I'll trim things back and try to at least make it seem like I'm listening to them. Thanks for the advice... I'll find out one way or the other if it works.

I've definitely noticed you get higher CTR when you use KWs, but I just didn't have volume. I guess I need to build more than 2-3 ads? ;)

+rep for reminding me to sub more ads

Yeah I can't get volume targeting keywords either, a campaign of mine will typically go after 50k users and I will have great ctr and ROI for me but will max at much lower than what I want per day. So I've constantly been trying to get ads that can perform well with millions of users at once and provide positive ROI but have had no luck there at all.

I think this week I will give up on that for now and work on doing what I've been having success with, building successful campaigns that are smaller but actually make me money instead of loose it. Just have to make more campaigns to get the amount I want.

What's the largest group any of you have ever had a successful ad running in and what was your ROI? I've never had much luck with groups over 100k but I've certainly seen ROI in the 200%+ on some campaigns with my smaller groups.

I personally feel that targeted ads that convert better with a lower CTR and fewer impressions is the way to go. Why promote the Jonas Brothers to people who may be in the Lawrence Welk demographic in the remote chance that somebody may want to buy Jonas Brothers merch for their grandchild?

Somebody please tell me why laser targeting isn't best.

What I was talking about was the $$ potential. Sure I can find very specific products and target groups of 5k people and have a good ROI, but that ROI isn't on much spending because the group is so small. I aspire to have ads with positive ROI targeted at groups of mill+ because that will be a great deal more spending. More profit from one ad means more profit for time spent working.

Of course you could say, "just create more campaigns targeting smaller groups mike" which is what I plan on doing this week. I just want to find the sweet spot on time invested to money earned and knowledge learned right now.

You could target common keywords related to your offer. For, Miley Cyrus's fans also Jonas Brothers' fans.

Anybody seen a drastic decline in FB ad impressions today starting at Midnight PST? Does anyone have any information on the cause?

Just submitted 6 variations of one advert, same url, image...

Nice Facebook team!

Do you think it's since they moved where the adverts appear that clicks have started to go down?
