NEW Facebook Ads

Maybe FB is pruning advertisers that generated an "X" percentage of disapproved ads, and moving toward more lucrative CPM advertising? I haven't read anything; this is just a guess from me.

My account is still active, but I felt that the value of FB advertising didn't live up to the hype. Even if you disagree with my sentiment, FB seemed too flaky and capricious a place to receive a steady income stream. I'm referring to both the ad approval process and the quality of the traffic.

Don't worry, NOT outing an LP here but I just noticed someone advertising to women on facebook who's LP had a big fat "www.wickedfire.com" link in blue across the very top of their LP. I'm only telling you this because I think it's hilarious and probably confuses at least some of your potential customers. Time to edit that code.

I am still getting crappy impressions..

When I would normally get 200k impressions. I now get 500. What the heck? @*&^#&!!

So here is something I've noticed and maybe you guys can comment. I've noticed that the first time I run an ad, any ad, it always gets the best ctr the first day. Now people will be quick to say well duh that ad gets saturated and all the people that were going to click it did.

So here is a situation I'm talking about, I make an ad targeted at 6.3 mil people and the first day it gets about 500k impressions and great ctr. The next day it gets about 1mil impressions and a lower ctr. Now out of 6.3 mil people obviously not all of them have "seen" the ad.

I have two hypothesis about what could be going on.

A. It's targeted at 6.3 mil people but of those maybe 200-300k are generating half the page views for those 6.3 mil people so the ad does get quickly saturated in this smaller group of frequent users. Thus the lower ctr after only 1mil impressions.

B. Facebook displays brand new ads in a place that has higher ctr on average to get the ad started and collect data faster. After the first day or so they start putting it in other spots that doesn't have the same ctr rate.

When/If they turn back on auto approval for duplicating an ad I plan to run some tests to figure this out. I plan on taking an ad that has run a few days and pausing it and duplicating it so it's brand new with the exact same ad copy and target group and see if this bumps up the ctr.

Has anyone done a test like this? What do you guys think?

I do this all the time. A lot of the times, CTR will be very high from the start. Other copies can be deleted after a few hours.

By the way, auto approvals were 'on' for me yesterday.

I actually came back to this thread, because i've noticed something different for the past week. I get my ads almost insta approved. Anyone else noticing this? I will submit like 5-10 ads, and they'll get approved within minutes some times. Also, this seem to be happening at various times a day (not just within the cali work hours)

Thanks for the info, I checked and auto approvals are "on" for my older ads. The one ad I really want to duplicate with auto approval won't auto approve though. :angryfire:

do you have the impressions back? At this point I'm focusing efforts elsewhere. Even if I can get ads auto-approved, my impressions are back to a trickle of their former selves and not worth the effort of campaign scaling. FB was really good to me too for a minute. Still profitable, but not nearly as much since my impressions are in the basement.

I'm not happy with my impressions. But I'm still getting 1mill + a day so it's nothing like has happened to some of you guys yet, lucky me.

Facebook Ads Manager v2 Still Working?

Does Facebook Ads Manager v2 plugin for firefox still work with Facebook?

It's some sort of bug. At least now you can change it back to 13, but old ads are still screwy. Somebody should email FB...
