NEW Facebook Ads

Downloads are allowed. Adware is not.

"Downloadable products that may affect the user's computer or browser performance in unexpected or undesirable ways;"

The people who check the Ads at Facebook apparently can't discern between a legit download and Adware. Also, the Facebook team isn't replying to dissaproval emails so they are probably bogged down with advertisers emailing them about wrongly dissaproved Ads.

IMO this is very unprofessional of Facebook.

If you ask them directly which I did (and someone else I know), they will say they are currently not allowing ANY downloads at all.

Many affiliates ran ads that used aweber + double opt in to send emails out with offers that are against Facebook's terms. So there reaction is to pretty much stop list building with using aweber and any other of the smaller auto responders if they think it even looks like it COULD be that.

i think thats pretty ridiculous on their part.

First, no "false association"

Then no adware downloads

Now no download at all?

No no...

First they were like - Sure we will accept all download offers...

Then they were like - You have to say "download required" in your ad copy...

Then they were like - No adware!!! OMG!!

Then they were like - NO DOWNLOADS AT ALL!!!

I like how they used to allowed everything when facebook first started self serve ads and then once they got a whole slew of advertisers bringing in revenue, they just start kicking out affiliates - which helped them grow in the first place.

We do not allow images with guns pointing at a person. Please revise these images before resubmitting the ads.

Thats a new one. Anyone else get this one?

Facebook is denying completely legit shit now and just about everything, since Friday almost nothing gets through. Mark my words, they will easy up on their policies after a while, no other options because at this rate they will take a dramatic hit to their revenue. That is, unless they get a piece of all that in-game revenue they are going after sooner rather than later.

Has anyone seen this yet? Nothing dramatic, I just thought it was interesting.

Give me a break. My downloadable products do NOT affect user's computer or browser performance in unexpected or desirable ways. Facebook has gone disapproving spree.

Unfortunately they are taking steps to make sure they can do without affiliates. Such as their 'virtual currency' to use in Facebook apps like Farm ville and signing on larger corpos to run ads. Im sure they are also making bank off the constant running of fucking Mafia Wars too.... Literally not a day goes by I dont see those ads.

Yeah they def bank off those games, they get them coming and going. Ads for the game generating revenue for them and the ads on the side of the game also generate a shitload of impressions and ad dollars.

This is all very smart of fb.

We might be mega pissed but they're making some serious cash.

It's so hard to believe that Zynga made 300 mil last year on some crappy 2d games...

What happens when you have a solid product.

I think a lot of traffic sources / ad networks are "going direct" and cutting out affiliates. Expect this trend to continue and get worse.
