What a stupid, baseless attack... There wasn't anything yet on US-based media when I posted that last night. I checked CNN, NBC, MSNBC and Yahoo. Considering that those four agencies are based on the same continent as New Orleans, you can't deny it's a little strange that the BBC and RT both got a multi-hour scoop on this story ahead of them.

Even comments on the RT article from many hours later had different people noting that US press isn't touching it too.

If you care to prove me wrong, be my guest, go dig up all the timestamps from when those articles were published...

And if not, then at least be a man and admit that you're the one with no internet skills.

So what do you make of those article timestamps in google then mister? Or is this an instance of you having trouble with timezones and not knowing what GMT means?

Because if we take a look at the timestamp that the relative time reference (9 hours ago in this case) that is embedded in Yahoo's HTML, we see:

Which, for those without programming experience, breaks down to:

9:16PM, May 12th, 2013 GREENWICH MEAN TIME

Looking at RT.com:

You'll notice that they also handily use GREENWICH MEAN TIME and you'll see that they had their article up about an hour before Yahoo.

And to fully display my technical skills (gotta prove how much of a tough guy I am apparently), here I am parsing the dates in the terminal with Ruby's Interactive Console (irb):

So now if we head back over to the googlez (that popular thing on the the thing I poked fun at you about in my previous post), we see that, GASP, there's a one hour indexation difference between the RT article and the Yahoo article:

I went directly to yahoo before they posted a story. And three other new agencies too. I was not wrong because I did not say that I googled... That's dchuk's idea.

I will admit to using the word "multiple" incorrectly... At the time I did not check for GMT, so I guess it looked hours away to me then.

Was 20 feet behind where it occurred. Everyone was dancing and have a great time and then this happened :C really scary. Saw lil kids and adults getting trampled. At first it was POP POP and everyone kinda didnt do anything and then POP POP POP POP POP. 7-8 shots rang out, everyone fled or ducked down behind nearby vehicles. Mostly likely gang/drug related.

For what it's worth, when I was sent the link to the RT article I did a quick search and it didn't seem to appear in any US media. A few mins later the same search yielded a tiny BBC article with "more to come" plus the Yahoo news link, and only about half hour after the same search provided the Fox link.
