Hey guys. Been working on this site, mostly for fun, and also because I've been working at building this image gallery theme for Wordpress for some time, and I believe it's finally ready to be shown off. Give me your opinions!

Now let me talk a bit about the theme, just because I'm so proud of it. ;)

First of all, it only uses 13 CSS definitions. If any of you have ever poked around at just about any wordpress CSS files, most of them have well over 100 CSS definitions. Talk about complicated, and unnecessary (IMO).

As far as the plugins go, this site utilizes:

AdRotate - An easy way to publish and manage ads.
All in One SEO Pack - A very good SEO plugin. On this site I use it mainly for page titles.
Google XML Sitemaps - This plugin will generate a special XML sitemap which will help search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com to better index your blog.
PhotoQ - Automates WordPress photo publishing. This plugin also handles watermarking, image resizing, and thumbnails. Also great for doing batch image uploads.
Simple Image Grabber - Grabs an image from a post and displays it. I use it to display the images on the home page, and category pages.
Vertical scroll recent comments - This will vertically scroll recent comments.
WP Page Numbers - Show pages numbers instead of "Next page" and "Previous Page".
Yet Another Related Posts Plugin - Returns a list of related entries based on a unique algorithm for display on your blog and RSS feeds. A templating feature allows customization of the display.

To find images to be posted on the site, I use $crapeb0x Google Image Grabber. Then I manually go through each image to find the ones I want, then I can batch upload them using PhotoQ, publish everything in one-click, and boom, you have yourself a motherfucking image gallery.
 


thanks for info about WP Page Numbers plugin, I always found the Next Post/Previous Post rather annoying. this is lovely but not sure if it works w 3.0.3 :)

your site looks awesome btw. I like how when you view an image, it displays other images above it.

Aren't you concerned that someone might take your work and duplicate it in another fashion? I thought that was the reason I haven't seen a lot of people on this site even mention what site they are working on to bring in the dough.

What kind of monies you be making?

Thanks! I also hate the Next/Previous links. Not to mention I think that having all the pages linked like that makes it easier for the spiders the crawl.

Sure, it is a concern to be "outing" myself like that, to some degree. But this isn't a serious money site.

So far I haven't made any money from it, but it's only been up for a couple of weeks.

I did however, about a week ago, hammer the site with SB, and Yahoo site explorer is already showing 4,465 domain backlinks (ROFL). We'll see how that pans out for my rankings in a few weeks. And whether it turns out good or bad, I don't really care, because this site is just for fun, and totally perfect for testing purposes. :p
 
i like the minimalist look and the fact you can view additional related pictures on top everytime you click on an image (endless clicking fun).

Is that the max size of the image? If not (doesn't fit in the template) may be consider 'lightbox'
 
I have all the images automatically resize to fit the template (PhotoQ takes care of that). I'm not sure about integrating Lightbox on this site at this point, but that is a good idea that I will certainly try on a future project.

I heard/read that one can download like 10000 of pictures with a scraper and the mass up load it and instantly have like 10K visitors come to a new site from month 1?>!

Do you know anything about this?

Do you live in China?

I only ask because when the copyright owners of those images find out how you're using their images, I'd be wanting to live in a non-extradition treaty country so the feds don't bust down my door Elian Gonzalez style.

This^^^

Worse, your registration isn't even private, not that it matters to a DCMA takedown... and the Whois is flawed anyways which can get your domain taken down in minutes with one complaint. Unless your last name really is the initial "C", that is.
 
Not bad. Minimal is fine for some things I guess, but IMO for an emo/goth/whatever site I think it's deserving of a bit of design.

Also, it's a bit odd that you're not actually creating thumbnails for the images but instead loading the full size images and then resizing them in the browser. It makes the thumbnail images look really rough, slows your load times and increases your bandwidth overhead.
