Nice, since I only have a couple of dozen niche video sites that pull content from YT ...

They are basically covering their own ass and saying that all embedded player code should not be in subscription areas, Makes sense if you ask me. They aren't telling you to remove it off your sites.

Seems to suggest otherwise. So does this clarification:

We don't want to discourage you from putting the occasional YouTube video in your blog to comment on it or show your readers a video you like, even if you have general purpose ads somewhere on your blog. We will, however, enforce our Terms of Use against, say, a website that does nothing more than aggregate a bunch of embedded YouTube videos and intentionally tries to generate ad revenue from them.

Nothing about subscriptions or memberships there, just non-trivial ad revenue that is driven by traffic driven by the presence of the videos. ie. All of the ad revenue from my niche video sites that use YouTube feeds.

Yeah, I know, it still sucks because open violation of ToS = all the leverage on their side. Also just generally don't like violating ToS agreements, as I prefer to simply stop using services who obviously don't want my participation (I walked away from $10k a month+ coming in from eBay years ago due to changes in their policy, rather than bother protesting it or trying to sneak around it or whatever.) I'm a big fan of respecting other people's terms, so that I can enforce my own with a stick.

That basically says it all. This is just some legaleze to cover their own asses in the unlikely event that something did come of it. Have I ran out and pulled down all my video blogs? No. Have thousands of other people? Nope. I wouldn't let this keep me up at night.
