This thread and the zac johnson thread are pretty worthless. If it's your content that's being ripped off, then contact the person first and try to get it removed. If that's not worth your time (it probably isn't) just ignore it and make some more content.

So you're saying Nickycakes' post is worthless? That's pretty harsh!

Nice example of your forum link bait idea. Seems to have drawn at least a little attention. Pretty damned funny.

I agree, you have 40 something replies to this before Nicky even replies... pretty good.

The all around "plot" of this though is an epic failure.

May bring you a little link love on that sig, but it also makes you look like this guy...

Hahaha

Isn't that you drunk off your ass at a conference?

You guys are funny, you thanks people when they get you some paid ebooks or programs for free and complain about deleting copyright.
I delete copyrights too, but not everytime.

If you take a look at Nickycakes.com and view the source code, near the bottom you can see the following message:
<!-- Do not deleting the credits, this theme is released for free under the GNU General Public License (GPL) requiring that the credits will stay intact.I'd appreciate the credit being left in unmodified, thanks in advance -->

Apparently, Nicky has used a Wordpress theme licensed under the GNU General Public License and decided he'd just rip off the original author by removing the credits the original author placed on the theme, even though the author clearly required them to remain intact.

As you can see, on the page and in the source code, no credits remain for the original author.

I think it's pretty clear that Nicky only cares if someone gets ripped off if he can benefit from it.

I mean if Nicky makes so much money, why wouldn't he just hire someone to create a theme or buy a pre-made one?

You better check out the source of his page quick, because I'm sure Nicky will try to remove this and act like it never happened.

What a D-bag!

Yeah you might want to read up on the actual GNU before attacking someone for not doing anything wrong.

/me is guilty as well.
Wanna know what? You're retarded if you leave the templates completely in tact.
1)You're leaving a footprint that will be picked up by scrapers and will give you a LOT of link spam. I removed mine, and my blog receives only 2-3 spam comments per day. Many others who leave footprints in get thousands
2)It's not about the "GPL", "Open source" or anything else to them, it's about getting backlinks to their shitty site. The tactic is fine, but don't expect me to cooperate. that's the only reason the copyright message is in there.

If it's just something they put as a JS/HTML comment or whatever, that's different. But that's not why most people put their "DO NOT MODIFY THIS" section in the template.

And by the way, my template is pre-made to. I don't plan on turning my blog into a business in and of itself, so why would I spend money that could be better invested elsewhere to make a new one?
"Having the money" isn't a good reason. I "had the money" for a lot of things in high school, and prior to getting into this business managed to burn all that off really quick. During my broke ass time I can remember thinking 1000 times "I wish I hadn't spend $xxxx on something that stupid".
I feel like if things go wrong in the future, a template would be in that category.

If you don't like it, then buy an exclusive template...

Many things can create one, it can be of any shape or size, it is created for various reasons, and it can shrink or grow with time. What is it?

A hole.
