this should be a sticky

"Why/how the retarded fail at linkbaiting"

Yes, making this thread a permanent fixture at the top of the forum would DEFINITELY be an example of linkbait failure.

Ever reply you make just reinforces my conclusion that threads with controversy aren't popular and gain absolutely no interest.

Thank you for showing me the error of my way through gay porn and random insults.

Go ahead and throw a few more insults my way so I can continue to gain more interest and exposure through this thread.

You're right, we're wrong, it was a very successful campaign and you will be seen as a viral marketing guru reminiscent of the linkbaiting mastermind Shoemonkey.

I'm certain there will be many who see your posts and say "I want to learn from that guy!", they'll visit your blog and you'll have your own army of sheeple just like all of your heroes

That, or they'll do like I did. Look around, laugh, and say to themselves "Great, another wannabe posting the same shit as the other 234,671 affiliate marketing blogs"

How so? Could you please elaborate?

Retard, the GPL allows free modification of anything released under it as anyone sees fit. The ONLY thing that needs to stay in tact is a credit to the original developer in the source code IF it's redistributed. You don't need to leave links visible.

Stop being a douche and learn something.

Hey man, you're the expert! The internet is serious business!!!

Thank you for the great lesson. I am forever in debt to your great knowledge. Please teach me more so that I may one day act like a dick to someone I don't know on some random forum somewhere.

I couldnt help myself.... fucking hillarious thread and some sick sick pics - everything a thread needs then!

GPL is supposed to be free for everything, not just beer and speech but price and links too.

[Theme designers] on the other hand, they are shitting on everything that free software stands for by trying to profit off of it.

GNU actually encourages people to profit off of GPL-released work.

Many people believe that the spirit of the GNU project is that you should not charge money for distributing copies of software, or that you should charge as little as possible — just enough to cover the cost.

Actually we encourage people who redistribute free software to charge as much as they wish or can.

... if you are redistributing copies of free software, you might as well charge a substantial fee and make some money. Redistributing free software is a good and legitimate activity; if you do it, you might as well make a profit from it.

And from the GNU FAQ:

Does the GPL allow me to sell copies of the program for money?

Yes, the GPL allows everyone to do this. The right to sell copies is part of the definition of free software. Except in one special situation, there is no limit on what price you can charge. (The one exception is the required written offer to provide source code that must accompany binary-only release.)

Does the GPL allow me to charge a fee for downloading the program from my site?

Yes. You can charge any fee you wish for distributing a copy of the program. If you distribute binaries by download, you must provide “equivalent access” to download the source—therefore, the fee to download source may not be greater than the fee to download the binary.

Does the GPL allow me to require that anyone who receives the software must pay me a fee and/or notify me?

No. In fact, a requirement like that would make the program non-free. If people have to pay when they get a copy of a program, or if they have to notify anyone in particular, then the program is not free. See the definition of free software.

The GPL is a free software license, and therefore it permits people to use and even redistribute the software without being required to pay anyone a fee for doing so.

If I distribute GPL'd software for a fee, am I required to also make it available to the public without a charge?

No. However, if someone pays your fee and gets a copy, the GPL gives them the freedom to release it to the public, with or without a fee. For example, someone could pay your fee, and then put her copy on a web site for the general public.
