@mattgatten - Great start! Checked out the site and it looks good! Just keep going

@atomboy - Can't wait to see what you come up with. I actually bought that domain because I love pin up stuff. Betty Page, Olivia, etc. BTW, in case you haven't, sign up for the affiliate program at Allposters.com They have a lot of pin up art posters for sale.

@mediastar - check with your affiliate manager and ask them what does well with your site (if you haven't already) ;) Sounds like you have more planned / done than you're letting on, so I won't bother you too much.

I wanted to get lots of content with my keywords in there first. Looking at google searches, I found that "honda accord" was really competitive (in the millions). I noticed that "honda accords" (plural) was down around 100k. I decided those were the two main keywords I would target. Now year model - honda accord gets a decent amount of searches so I though I would make categories for each year model and try and rake traffic from those 'tertiary' search phrases. (Am I thinking correctly here?)

Money: Well, I was thinking about numerous avenues. I hear zip submits are something you want to hold off on if you're a noobie. I was thinking about the car insurance quote leads, car loans, etc. Maybe some YPN. I don't know for sure. I wanted to get content up first then go into the monetization.

I just got off the phone with Samantha (hottie) over at NB last night and I'm pretty excited. I've always tried CJ.com but NB has some really neat looking stuff.

I'm very open to suggestions on what avenue (high level category) of monetization to take. Like I said. Teach me to fish, don't give me a fish. So, let me hear ya.

Summary - Day 3
Profit - Exactly Dick!
Traffic - Exactly Dick!
Links - Exactly Dick!
Content - 3 posts!
Plans - Keep adding content, find a few aff offers, links between posts (internal).

matt...

you're on the right track.

NB is great. I think you might be too early in trying to run something from that network though. My suggestion to you is to build up the traffic and try to monetize it with something like PHPBayPro using the ebay affiliate program. There are tons of great items related to Hondas you can promote.

Good work so far. Keep it up.

Ok, I'm curious then. I didn't read anything around the site that said, 'Noobs should stay away from the 'heavy hitter' Aff Networks'. Why is NB or COPEAC out of a noobs league? Just curious.

So should I fill it with EBay Auctions and YPN ads? I guess my question is, how is it 'harder' with the NB offers (ouside of email/zip submits?).

Thanks again, You guys have given me a ton of info already.

im interested in doing this too. i've been reading up on it for a while now and i figured better now than never.

so far i have:
- bought the domain RedHotDealDays.com (verizon sales promotions)
- got approved with neverblueads

the biggest problem right now is that i need hosting. I know you are letting people use your domains, but i was wondering if you could host mine. I'm here to learn and will absorb all information thrown at me.

I look forward to working with all of you and getting my first campaign started :)

- Google analytics installed and tracking
- Categories are going in. Most posts will fall under 2 categories minimum.
- Content scraped from tons of places, re-wording and re-typing as you read this.
- Making sure each post gets a link or two to another post as I add them.
- Back-dating the time stamps on the posts as I ad them to give the impression of a more 'mature' site. :)

Future: As I get closer to 50-60 articles, I'm going to hire the directory submission Ninjas to help me out. I'm thinking 500-1000. Thoughts from the 'teachers': How soon do you hire the directory submission Ninjas? How many directory submissions do you buy?

I personally feel that copeac, etc is pretty much the same damn thing as ebay partner network (epn). At it's basic level, they are all ads that bring in revenue. For your site, I personally like the option of giving car related ads from aff networks better. Ads can target insurance, loans, etc pretty easily from a decent network. Do that and drop some adsense (less is more) in place and your monetization is up to par.

IMHO, directories are a good addition to a mature link building campaign, not a replacement for one. For this test you have a month to make money ... most free directories (which is what they will submit to) won't even review your site in that amount of time.

My best suggestion for links would be to A> comment on some digg, sphinn or reddit stories that are blogs that allow links on your name. Spiders frequent these places and will know your site exists almost immediately. B> pick up a sig link somewhere (like dp or hopefully a car forum) for $10 / ~500 posts.

Doing the above 2 things will get your site noticed and help bring in a few visitors so you can start looking at your log files and optimizing the site. Thats when you will really know how best to get more traffic and monetize the traffic you have.

Ok, now my turn. I picked up the site Content Links from Mike.

I'd like to give an example to rookies that there are more ways to make money online than just content driven MFA sites. Some noobs have experience in different things that they can market ... mine happens to be programming.

About my site - Content links provides a program that allows developers the ability to add links from their sites (html / blog / forum) to other sites. The key here is that the anchor text spans a couple of words rather than just a 1 word link. This is great for flying under Google's radar when linkbuilding as the anchor text is almost always unique. The script pulls XML from a single source so you can install this program on many sites and they all pull from the same words to drop links. Using the script is simple <? include 'script.php' ; echo content_links($content) ; ?>. Also, I see a wordpress plugin in the near future.

How to monetize - Well that's the easy part ... sell a script, make the dollars. Getting the site out there will be the only challenge but there are plenty of software directories (hotscripts, etc) and webmaster forums that will have users in my target audience.

About the search engines - Natural traffic will probably be down the road a bit for this site as I really haven't done any keyword research. I figure there will be enough webmasters in arms distance to make this launch a success, organic will come later. Once I come up with my price point some PPC action might be happening also.

I'd like to see a couple of people put up some different type sites here in this thread (newsletters, e-commerce, subscription) so that the noobs can start thinking outside the box of MFA sites. That's where most start and why most fail ... the money is not there for single sites and requires replication.

On a more personal note, Thanks again Mike for offering help to the newbies of the interwebs. I'm looking to give back to the community also so what I'm shooting for it this ...

50% of sales for this script when someone enters some code (like "WFrocks") will head directly to Mike's Paypal. As it stands now there is a finite number of domains and a monthly hosting bill. I'd like to help out here so this WF - The Last Hope For Newbies thread lives forever in infamy.

After checking out content links, which is linked in an above post, & playing with the demo, please post some suggestions here about what I should charge for unlimited domain use of this script. I'm thinking around $60 but would like some suggestions. A decent programmer could write something like this in a day or so. I feel charging an hour's worth of their time would make the script more appealing to buy than hack. Your thoughts?

And I apologize, I'll never post 3 comments in a row ever again. They were all separate thoughts.

hey I was wondering if I could get in on this thing. I've been reading up on it for quite some time now and figured better now than never.

things I've done so far:
- bought the domain RedHotDealDays.com (current verizon promotion)
- got approved by neverblueads

The problem is that I don't not have hosting for my domain at the moment. I was wondering if you could help me out with that, just to get started. I'm here to learn and expand my knowledge in this field. I hope to one day become as successful as some of the other members here, but realize "i must crawl before i can walk"

thanks for all of your help and i look forward to working with all of you.

hey everyone! here's what i got so far: i'm building realstudentloan.com and i've found two candidates for loan affiliate programs. kinda hard to find those. : P anyway i've gotten a good idea of the look i want the site to have. now what? should i just build it, throw links/banners on it, put it online, and then focus on seo? that seems like the most straighforward way, but since it's a first for me i'm kinda lost.... any help?

So I've got the basic Secureloanfacts.com site up and will spend tonight working on keyword research.

Thanks Mike.
Yep, that was one of the things on my to do list.
since I'm at my J.O.B I'll have to keep this short.
I really like the tools all posters has for building stuff out

Yeah I really like pinups also. So it pulled me.
I've got around 150 keywords with a results/search ration of 300 or less.
about 30 of those have over 100 searches a day and page counts less than 30K. So that initial batch of 30 keywords & phrases is where I'm focusing my initial content acquisition efforts.

I'm also gonna do a few slide show videos with a watermark and load that up on video sites. Something like this: YouTube - Candy Pin-Up Girls !! ♥♥♥

I'll be sorting through the content tonight, and back dating the posts.
I'm gonna install PHPBay also. and get that all rolling.

@ split - PM me, I'll set you up on my hosting, then when you make some coin, you can get your own.

That's a nice gesture erect, but how about this: put it into more hosting so we can expand this for even more people. If you send it to me, that's where it'll go anyhow. :)

Yea, that's where I was kind of going with the whole "finite number" thing. The 20-ish domains will probably be taken up soon and hosting is not free, I figure I'd keep pumping money into this (assuming the script sells) so we can sustain this offer to many others in the future.

I'd like to keep this as simple as possible. Shoot me your paypal address and every other purchase I'll have the customer directly pay to you ... It'll just rotate between our accounts in the script.

Sounds ok to you?

Your thoughts on contentlinks.org script? marketing? pricing?

Groovy. PM sent. I'll read your other post on what the script is supposed to do again and get back to you on this tomorrow. I'm about to fall asleep at the wheel right now.

Hey Mike, you also said a stipulation was a link for you. What do you want it to point to and what do you want in the anchor text. Any rules on where it's displayed?

I'll be a page rank 10 in a few more days (lmfao) so holler back quick!

Thanks again for the lesson.
