From the NYT - we're all fucked if the government is gonna start writing the rules...

For decades, we've lived by the principle that government should be limited..

Now we want it to do everything for us - give us jobs, homes, healthcare, money..

The more power we give it, the more independence we lose..

This is truly disconcerting - we are witnessing a negative evolution of America before our very eyes. Do we really want to be like France - a centrally planned economy? Double digit unemployment? Anemic economic growth?

Obama is all about power, and he could give two shits if he crushes the American entrepeneurial worker while he does it...

As for you AM Obama-ites, you'll have a change of heart real quick once he starts implementing his 'financial regulatory overhauls' - just wait until Obama sticks his hand in your pocket. You fuckers will deserve whatever shit you get.

obama private sector aig credit default swaps bonus bailout outrage economic jobs government trillions omg oh noes what to do?

We can thank the sheeple for this. Remember the "YES WE CAN", the big rallies, the fucking bumper stickers everywhere, the fucking Roman temple at the DNC to pay homage to his "godliness", his "look at me I'm so cool I have a myspace, a facebook and youtube account", in general, the whole "who gives a fuck what he's about, Obama is so cool".

Anyway. Check this out. The lines are gonna collide much quicker than Bush's. I'm gaining some confidence back in my fellow Americans that they are seeing through the bullshit fairly quickly.

Gallup Daily: Obama Job Approval

12 out of 14 years of congressional control for republicans
8 out of the last 8.2 years of executive control for republicans

iraq war, katrina, economic melt down, destruction of civil liberties, torture

you're right, its all the sheeple AND NOT THE FUCKING RESULTS.

Still the best March poll numbers in almost 20 years: Obama's Approval Equal To or Better Than Bush's, Clinton's

I've come to the realization that complaining about Obama & Co. on internet forums is pointless. The entitlement welfare society will continue to walk around with their hands out, whilst the productive part of the economy will grow more and more unsettled.

We need to just let the dissatisfaction with the general public grow and sizzle for a while and then march to the white house and demand impeachment. A middle class revolution, if you will, with a demand to sound monetary policy and responsible government.

I've got my torches and pitchforks ready. Do you?

Ahahahahaaa

Can't believe everyone on both sides of the aisle is so freaking surprised by any of this shit.

People, read your history. FDR did the same fucking thing. Obama is smarter than FDR, he knows there's not squat he can do about the avalanche except manage it. So he'll trumpet the 'social good' aspect while allowing the 'taxpayer rape' and 'consolidation of fascist power' aspects.

Seriously, I can't understand why anyone expects any different from ANY politician.

I swear it's like you guys are brainwashed sometimes.

I bring up the fact that our economic system is being radically restructured, and your response is "Yeah? Well, Republicans were in office the past couple of years!"

So what? What the fuck? Who said I supported those Republicans?

Why are some of you so fucking partisan and defensive?

Government intervention in the private sector is wrong, period. Whether it's a Republican or a Democrat doing it, it's wrong. Do I need to write that fucking disclaimer every time I make a thread so you Obama-bitches don't haul up your tired talking point?

The point of this thread isn't to bash Obama, although it's certainly an afteraffect.

It's to draw attention to the fact that the government is moving in on traditionally-privately held territory. It's to point out that this is a terrible idea. I could give a fuck who's doing it. Government ruins everything it touches. And all of you are apathetic about it and acting like its normal?

Some of you must be products of the public school system to think this is normal. Starting with the Bush Bailout and continuing with the Obama Stimulus, government has been increasing its power in this nation. Yes, there are some parallels to FDR, but it looks as if we'll eclipse that by far.

Stop being so touchy about Obama and think about what is going on. Take away the names and parties and labels, and just look purely at the actions. We made government limited for a reason - because we knew an unchecked government would eventually lead to tyranny. Now we see its power increasing every day, and there's barely a peep from the populace. If we don't start paying attention to this and start fighting back, we and our children will one day wake up in chains.

Uhm Obama voted to continue the war, he voted to continue the economic meltdown with stimulus checks and banker bailouts, and he voted to protect warrantless wiretappers, and refuses to prosecute Bush, and he is going to continue rendition, which is basically torture outsourced.

Left right is a false paradigm. Obama is just the new Bush, and the new boss looks a lot like the old boss by his policy decisions.

Sure, but you didn't explain how Bush in his infinite power, called upon the weather gods and caused Hurricane Katrina - you know, because he hates black people an all.

And then sent the next big one (Ike) right on top of his Daddy and Mom here in Houston. We're still waiting on insurance to get back to us on a $42k roof redo thanks to a handful of cracked tiles from a falling branch. (Long story involving no underlay on the roof) Apparently he hates Republicans and energy giants, too.

+ rep for the grin, Zeros

I love it how people classify those who voted for obama as "sheeple". Yep that's right, instead of reading

....should I continue?

they sit around listening to those Nobel Prize winning economists that are regulars at Fox News and take notes (ring a bell?)... Let me know when you care to have a real conversation based on facts, logic and data supported theory and not some magic math and cracker jack box economics you picked up at the local Walmart...

Obama's supporters were on average wealthier, better educated, better traveled and more informed than the group of idiots who sat around talking about some magical boogeyman "socialism" which they couldn't define if I through a Finnish hospital voucher in their faces and hit them with it...

You don't like the changes that have come? Give me a summation of credit default derivatives, collateralized mortgage obligations and exotic interest rate swaps and try explaining that to the public.

I'll be waiting....

Left right is a false paradigm.

We can concur on that. These democrats need to be held accountable for some of the utter rubbish they have helped to create. Those who voted for funding programs during the Bush years we couldn't afford need to be checked. The same old "Bush caused all the problems" rubbish is going to get old pretty soon....
