I've had enough of oDesk all the ppl I found there are waste of time, no one is serious it's killing me! They are super cheap but it's just no good.

Where and how do you build your team?

Post a job opening on Monster.

You said oDesk was shit, and wanted more qualified. You probably won't find more qualified people than on Monster.

There really isn't an easy solution to building a foreign team. You either hire in the US, or spend time and money digging through crap to find some gold on the freelance sites.

I've had no problem with oDesk.

My guess would be that you aren't properly filtering out which candidates are keepers and which aren't.

If I want to hire 1 outsourced worker, I do a short sample job from the start (which I'll pay each candidate to take). Out of 20 applicants, maybe 2 will do a good enough job to warrant being hired. I'll hire both of them and once they've both been working for a week I'll fire the worst performer of the two.

So let me see if I understand, you post a test job and hire two worker.
And at the end take only 1 of them?

The problem with odesk is that you have to invest lots of time and efforts to find a good worker. And even if you find one, you will never be sure when he goes AWOL.
Forget building a team on odesk. The best you can use odesk is for a quickie...

No, I might use it.
The reason I'm using oDesk is becuase you can find really cheap workers there.

I just don't get it.

You want super cheap workers, and have a high quality of work done. Really?

When I was broke as church's rat, I was doing some project works via oDesk.

I can tell you that - the most problematic clients are those who offer the lowest prices. And again, the most problematic workers are those who work for the lowest prices.

Get out of that pit man.

When you place a job on odesk ALWAYS include a way to filter out the fucktards. I usually start my job posting out with a question like: What color is the sky? and tell them that they HAVE to answer that question at the top of their application or I will delete them. This usually weeds out about 60 - 75% of the applicants right off the bat.

oDesk = 100% Garbage, srs... Spend more time filtering through people, than you do getting actual work done. And then you hire someone and they never work out.

U hiring from the Philippines on odesk? Dont waste time with any other countries, and pay more $$ for good workers that you do find on there.

I have gotten a lot better using odesk, you just need to do voice interviews and small jobs first. If you can talk with them and realize they are competent then it usually works out. I have found some awesome contractors there.
