I've had enough of oDesk all the ppl I found there are waste of time, no one is serious it's killing me! They are super cheap but it's just no good.

Nah there are lots of good workers in odesk. You just need to filtered all the applicants and choose the best one. Goodluck!

oDesk = 100% Garbage, srs... Spend more time filtering through people, than you do getting actual work done. And then you hire someone and they never work out.

When I was promoting my software development company pretty hard I thought oDesk would be a great way to get new clients. That was the wrongest I've ever been in my life. I think I got like 2 or 3 clients. Everyone wants you to bid $2/hr and build facebook in a week for a grand total of $25. I get I'd have to lower my rates to compete there, but it's impossible to lower my rates enough to be able to live, pay people, and still get contracts there. That site is a cesspool of degenerates.

Agreed, I've always been able to find good people over there without paying too much. There have been applicants that are not serious but I filter them out pretty quickly. I guess it's just a matter of people skills.

When you place a job on odesk ALWAYS include a way to filter out the fucktards. I usually start my job posting out with a question like: What color is the sky? and tell them that they HAVE to answer that question at the top of their application or I will delete them. This usually weeds out about 60 - 75% of the applicants right off the bat.

No, I might use it.
The reason I'm using oDesk is becuase you can find really cheap workers there.

If you think Odesk is worse then don't take a look at freelancer. Odesk is way way much better than freelancer so if Odesk is bad for you then my guess is freelancer is bad bad bad for you

Double your rates man and you'll get a good team. Don't know exactly what your hourly rates are but I'm giving 2 VA's from odesk $8 per hour. I'm working with them for the last 9-10 months for 4 hours a day. NO problems at all..

They started at $6 then I increased depending on their Job Desc. More jobs = More Salary. That excludes the bonus I am giving them out. If they can get a 6 hours work for just 4 hours in 5 consecutive days then they get extra $50 payout this week. Some more incentives would let your VA stick with you and not try to find someone else. And a little humor there and then would keep the ties.

I just started interviewing on Odesk and it seems like most must hire someone to write their profiles. The profile is well written but then when they respond their english is terrible. That matters to me- I can't get past it.

Made the mistake of posting a job and got a hundred garbage responses. Next time, I'll ask a question like suggested above.

Some of the profiles look pretty good. Will see how the work is.

Someone mentioned the Phillipines. What other countries have worked out well?
