Yep. Pretty sneaky way how it was done too.... Tacked it on to a port security bill the Republicans knew would not be opposed by the Dems. :crap::321:
 
I was listening to about 15 minutes of a conservative talk show host on the radio this afternoon; as he pointed out, how many Republican voters are online gamblers? A lot. No one is going to vote for a Republican over a Democrat because playing online poker is illegal. As I always say, someone needs to be fired.

Yeah, I agree most appear to be total wackos...

But that is slowly changing. I'm just saying - when you have a choice, vote your conscience, not the lesser of 2 evils. Even if your real choice doesn't win, you have sent a message to the entrenched parties...and your vote ends up doing more for postive change than merely jumping in bed with the republicrats.
 
karnul - I have to strongly disagree with you there. If you avoid voting for the lesser of 2 evils you are giving your vote to the most evilist of them all! See the Dumbnocrats get votes from there base cause very few libertarians are left wing nut jobs so the libertarian base would pull from the Republicans witch are so much better for this country than the Dumbnocrats it is not even funny. see my point? voting your conscience though your right could make things worse than better!
 
I believe this'll get appealed in the next few years.

This industry is much to strong, and much to popular for it to die down slowly. I'm sure they'll come to some type of terms that allow the US to tax the shit out of the online poker companies...

Then we'll all be happy, and I can blow my money on roulette and blackjack...then win it all back with poker.

There's not much they can appeal on.... The standard for this is RATIONAL BASIS. Rational Basis challenges usually fail. Another legal approach would be that Congress overstepped its bounds. However, the Commerce Clause of the Constitution is so WIDELY INTERPRETED this probably won't work either.

First, let me say I think politicians in general are worseless...

But- I don't feel Repubs are any better than Dems. Repubs have now stacked the surpreme court ---> which is a big blow to those that love freedom.

Repubs are the ones pushing the Patriot Act BS onto everyday Americans. Repubs are spending more than Dems dreamed possible. Repubs are jumping into foreign wars without good intelligence.

I just don't see the harm in a dem or 2 winning elections in comparison to the repubs...

Both are total crap for America, and especially freedom loving entrepreneurs like the folks here on WF.

If you think going into Iraq was a bad idea, they had nothing to do with 9/11 etc. well you are dead wrong. Do you think that we should have taken care of Iraq in a year and it would be peachy? hell it took 4 years for the USA to stop all the crap in Germany after WW2! If you think that people like Ned lamont should be in the senate well I think that is a bigger threat than the statis quo. 1 of the first things the Dumbnocrats would try and do is get a mac job increase. Who would that affect? Is giving someone who makes $5.15 an hour $5.85 going to really do anything other than hurt the small business owner? well I would like to know how many people actually work for $5.15 an hour? maybe in BFE were an apartment would cost you $300. Ask someone at mac d's what they make in NYC, they have not made $5.15 in years, business took care of it on there own. Your belief that we are loosing liberty and we went to war were we did not need to is left wing propoganda that the MSM has shoved down your throat so long anyone would start to think it was true. You should vote Republican for no other reason than Dumbnocrats are cowards!
 
One possible way they can get around the US restrictions = offer prizes like Japanese gambling sites. These sites have "secondary" sites that redeem the prizes into cash :)

I'm not suggesting anything. Just noticing how other companies get around this.
 
were you aware that Jack Abramoff was the lobyist who was keeping the online sites up? because of that downfall, his and partners, we nolonger have online gambling! Bastards!

Um... no... I really don't want to argue about Iraq. But: 1. The American people should have been informed of the quagmire this conflict would erupt into. 2. Does anyone believe it serves American interests to stay? 3. The money... oh my god, the money... It's a sinkhole of tax dollars.

I would prefer we adopted the neutrality stance we are constitutionally obliged to have. We are not to get entangled in the affairs of other nations.

America should promote individualism, privacy, and freedom of choice. Too many Pubs and Dems want to be involved in everyone else's lives.

Charity is nice, but FORCED charity is wrong. Marriage and family is nice, but government sanctioned marriages are wrong. Protecting America is right...but destroying America (our principles) in the name of protection is wrong.

Government has a tendency to fail at everything they do. When they fail they blame the people and extract more money and more freedom in order to fuck up the job some more.. See: drug war for an example.

We now lock up more people as a % of our population than any other country in the world.

Are we still the land of the free?
