Opinions Needed: Upgrading My Car

You don't believe that stock 5.3L can make an extra 120hp? You're nuts.

Just pimping you for more details. No, I do not believe that a stock 5.3L can make that kind of HP by just flashing the ECM and bolting on some pipes. The only way I could see it happening would be to install some performance heads, a roller cam, an appropriately sized throttle body, some headers and a good flowing exhaust system. Maybe after a performance flash and some proper tuning, I might be jazzed to see 425 to 450 HP - considering that there was no cylinder boring or oversized pistons involved. Call me crazy.

Props to you though for squeezing what you can out of some American performance.

I never specified what all was being done exactly because some of it may still change. I'll make another thread when the cars completely done.
There's a TON you can do to the car including a straight up supercharger which comes in a lot of sizes and power capabilities. An easy and relatively cheap way to bring the car above 425 without too many changes is http://www.pfyc.com/pc/WB3007/04UNDER/Cartuning+Turbocharger+Kit+-+5.3L+LS4+V8.html
Although it'll work with a straight bolt on just fine its smart to include a few more mods with it including a new crankshaft and a possible small change the transmission, but it will technically work straight out the box with the stock engine and easily bring it well beyond 425. There's also whole kits http://www.turbokits.com/grand_prix_gxp_turbo_kits.html

I have no idea how far I'm going to take all this. All I know is when i get the car back it'll be around 425 and if the torque steer isn't so bad I die I may end up pushing for higher.

You have to proceed very carefully with this "upgrade" because overdoing it will make it look like the hotrod you saved for by flipping burgers after school. Flames painted on the hood, a spoiler, a flashing license plate enhancement, etc., and no dad alive will let you date his daughter.

And please don't trick out the wheels with a sonic boom stereo. Guys with those deafen themselves and disturb me in my living room. Thank you, and drive carefully.

I've already had the car for a year. I drove it off the lot and straight to the car audio shop. So it already has the boom boom :)
I'm a music buff I can't live without loud as fuck heart beat tampering music, not even for a moment. hehe

Thankfully parents always love me.

My suggestion is sell it and buy a 1st owner, low mile 2005 or 2006 Corvette on eBay FTW. If you spend a little time looking it should be around $25k and will be 1000% faster around a race track, the only true measure of a car's worth.

What have you got an LS2 in there? Hard to believe you're getting that much HP out of a stock 5.3L rebuild. Why didn't you just go with the GTO in the first place?

The GTO is a design failure, it's to plain, looks to much like every other pontiac. They should have made it more retro.

That said the LS7 GTOs are pretty hot.

man, I find tha car ugly as hell... ditto about the clean lines.

I would say make sure to paint it all one color, I hate the black on orange thing it has going. I would paint it black, or silver (for easy of cleaning/dirt camouflage)

The worst part of that car, for me, would be that it is impossible for a car like that to pass by the cops without getting stopped.

If you would have bought the bimer, you would hardly ever get stopped. But with that thing... man, pig magnet. I hope you aren't into anything illegal.

It has some amazing performance specs... but I would make sure NOT to add anything extra that could be considered flashy (read lambo doors); you got plenty of that already.

hah yeah the lambo doors was just a joke.

greenleaves, what solid color would you suggest?

Here's what my car would look like in a solid black. I think it looks pretty hot.

For a side by side of a two color and solid

Being too flashy for cops isn't a concern of mine. I don't live my life worrying about cops.

eli i think your car kicks ass, and it still stands i would do the orange and black paint or something two tone, red and black would kick ass too.

man, all black it looks so kick ass. Amazing to me how a small thing like a colour change can make the car look totally different. Oh well, that is why I'm not into design.

And to answer your question; Black. The best colour for a car, when not dirty. However, as a black car owner, I recognize it might not be the best convenience wise.

About the cops, I don't live my life around them... but I just HATE getting pulled over. Atleast where I live, they try to shake you down for anything. I hate it.
