Huge Props out to the guys that set this up thanks Affiatearmy. And Smaxor and Miketpowell know there shit! Did an awesome job presenting. Looking forward to the next meet-up. All fired up to know we got some good people down in Socal!! Thanks again guys great turn out.

A big thanks again to Smaxor and MikeTPowell. That was a pretty badass session.
When we doing it again?

definitely +rep to affiliatearmy, miketpowell, and smax! Thanks guys - looking forward to the next one.

live everyone else has already said...it was great getting to know you all

thanks to affiliatearmy for setting it up.
And smax and miket - thanks for sharing some fucking great ideas...I don't think i can sleep for a few days :)

Yesterday was really cool. An inspirational and informative meet-up we had. I learned a lot from Mike (Facebook) + Smax (Copywriting + Media Buying). We should have another one!

Thanks for the great session and it was nice meeting all of you. Great information sharing. I felt like I was doing this all alone and struggling but it was awesome getting the inside insight from the guys doing it well and profitably. We should definitely try to have these meetings on regular basis.

OC Meetup wrap-up
Approx 2pm -6pm+
Headcount was approx 35

I dont know about you guys, but I attended the ASW pre show meetup, and this BLEW THE DOORS off that shindig..
Mike T powell put on an FB CLINIC...if you missed, you suck. Plain and simple. He shared details you wont find online, and whiteboarded alot of strategies that are money makers.
We covered fraud and industry trends, and SMAX went into offer selection, lp overview strategies and a pretty bad ass media buy session that other media buy peeps (see Dr Ngo for example) have not covered. Basically he prob saved many of us $10k's of $$$ with his detailed info...
Major props to A4D for hosting, snacks and info share. We will be throwing some traffic their way soon due to their personal touches with affiliates and great info support. That network has some GREAT support for sure..those guys know there stuff.

Thanks again to SMAX, Jay Kim for helping set this up, and all the boys at A4D for allowing us to crash their offices, Mike T Powell for his presentation, and all the attendees for their input etc. I get the feeling we might be able to convince A4d to host this again in the near future, but if this gets any bigger, we might need to move to a board room, conference hall etc etc...

AffiliateArmy, props to the idea to put everything together. I was really surprised tosee how many people showed up. I'm pretty sure everyone who registered on the meetup site showed and then some. We figured 25-30 would signup on the meetup site and then 50% of those would show.

Hhahahahah I was wrong.

If you guys want to do it again let me know, we could do something quarterly or bi-annually. Next time we'll do more planning, get more space and be a little more prepared. One thing I wish we would have done was have a little more time between sessions to network amongst each other. Networking with some like minded people can definately take things to the next level. I feel meeting people in person will always build more trust with the person your brainstorming with so I wish we would have opened up a little more time for those opportunities.

Brian, Mike I learned a few things from both of you that I think I can transfer to other traffic sources and verticals. It's those few little ideas that can really make something like this worth while. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to speak and putting the effort in. As for me, if I talk again I'll definately be more planned out next time. My talk was 100% off the cuff and wandered a little. It's crazy cause everything ties into everything else so much I felt compelled to cover a broad swath of stuff in general terms because as I was trying to give general knowledge and thought processes I go through before I make big financial descision which most media buys are. :D

Let me know if you guys are interested in doing another meetup and time frame. There's a lot of great topics we could have speakers for such as:

Psychology of ad creatives
Psychology of marketing
How to write good headlines
How to come up with ideas
Where to look for what's going on and how to extrapolate it to other verticals and markets
How to use and profit from Myspace
What a coreg path is and how to profit from it
How to create your own offer
Looking in the offline world for ideas to bring online
Using the power of social proof
How to transition from lower paying email submits to high paying offers
etc, etc, etc

Thanks to everyone that came it was a great meet-up and the first of it's kind I've been too. I really appreciate the kind words on my presentation too, speaking in front of groups is something I always want to get better at. I hope you guys find my advice helpful and if anyone has any questions feel free to PM me.

Big thanks to affiliatearmy and smaxor of course for hosting. I think I have a pretty good idea what it will take to make a media buy work now after smaxor's talk.

As affilatearmy said the benefit of meets like this we talk about things that just aren't written about online. I would never want to write in a blog about some of the stuff I talked about on the weekend. If anyone that went has a question about something I said feel free to PM me.

Judging by the responses, I say we do this in 3 more months, say mid to late august.
We can shoot around some topics that are hot, and prioritize from there. With 3 months we can organize a bit more and really blow the doors off. I dont know if the attendees realize it, but ASW et al charge some serious fees, and dont offer the networking convo's etc that meetups like these do. I guarantee a handful of people gained enough data and info to really have a SIGNIFICANT increase in their ROI at this meeting, plain and simple. Take away all the bullshit from vendors you get at other affiliate conferences et al, and add in some serious, focused one on one opportunities and you have one focused, kick ass event.
Oh yeah..its free too.

I've been to more than a handful of conferences around the country and this was definitely the most informative meet up by far. Some great information was exchanged and met some new people in the industry. Plus, it's always great to put a face to the screen name.

- smaxor

Thank you for hosting this awesome event. Didn't feel like I was in enemy territory at all. The guys at the Flux Ads office are way into a Poker tournament of some sort. Our guys vs yours.

We should definitely do this again soon.

i had a great time and def learned a lot about facebook advertising and media buys. never really put and screennames to faces, but no biggie there...i always feel silly introducing myself by my screenname lol.
