Good luck bros.

I'm one of the loudest voices for building brands, but I always chuckle a little when anyone acts above SEO or that they don't need it for "internet Marketing"

Unless you own a SaaS or a similar business model, you're seriously missing out if you're not in "SEO"

Organic Search traffic carries serious purchase intent and converts into commissions better than just about any other type of traffic. Ranking = Banking.

You should always be diversified, but if a chunk of your traffic volume isn't coming in organic from search, then you're missing out on a shit ton of money and conversions. PPC can help with this too but there is the added daily overhead.

Yea I have to agree with tavin, organic search should be included in percentage of your traffic and segregated into data which breaks down to age, sex, demographic when you have them as customers or leads in mails.

But again putting your whole banking system in just one basket is definitely risky -

Warren Buffet - Don't test the market with both legs, there will be no chance of getting out of it.

Well.. embrace yourself and plan ahead for penguin 2.0, in every storm a new opportunity is born.

Start? 2007 called, wants its advice back.

It's a dying model, bring on the new black & white overlords.

I'm anticipating 60% of my short term web assets to be wiped out. Last year it was ~85%. I'm completely happy with a 25% decrease, and at least this year I'm not being a blind optimistic sheeple thinking that my sites are going to last through an update.

This will be indeed be exciting. Last year this cut down on the SEO population and thus the competition tenfold.

Yeah, the bigger and more drastic, the better.

4/26/12 fucked me pretty bad, enough to where I can remember the date (d-day). Was making like 10k a week on a few sites, I gave up since 4/26 and moved to paid traffic ever since. Evolve ya fucks. SEO is a bitch to fight.

Many website owners were hit by the initial Google Penguin release and they are really getting too much worried with this and it is completely normal because before, majority of all the back links created were mostly crap and all of these were getting devalued and results to an SERP ranking drop down. For the future Penguin updates I am very sure that a lot will be affected.
