Pepper Spray !!

If you are resisting arrest it's expected that you will be maced or tasered. That is not the weird part. The real issue is, why did 20 of them just sitting there, bother anyone. Doesnt seem like they were blocking/bothering/preventing anything at that spot

If I was sitting there arms locked with my bros and a cop calmly explained that he was about to pepperspray me, and asked if I understood, my response would be:

"I understand that:

A. You are my public servant, I pay your salary in my taxes.

B. I am peacefully sitting down while you are about to attack me.

C. There appear to be 42 or more different TV angles here the way everyone is holding up their iPhones and pointing them directly at you.

D. The First Amendment of the USA guarantees me the right to free peaceful speech, and I guarantee you that you are the one on the wrong side of the law. -I am a Law student here at this campus, afterall.

E. My lawyer will be contacting your boss soon, Officer Johnston with badge #389482."

-I wonder if such a response would have helped much?

What a bunch of pussies. I'm half close to randomly beating cops for fun because all these losers won't.

When did people become such bitches?

That's what I was thinking, at least in Greece they fight back. Probably just a matter of time before people start getting violent in the US too though I think

Call them pussies if you want, but I think it shows a lot of restraint on the students part. You don't think every single person there wanted to beat the shit out of those cops? I bet most did, and I'm sure the cops want people to fight back because this one sided aggression makes them look bad. Students attacking cops would only justify the use of force.

Nobody is going to do fuck all, in one week this incident will be forgotten about, so gives a shit? We all already know we're just going to sit here, and continue taking it up the ass, while a few people make angry posts on blogs because the TSA groped their 7yo daughter. That's all that's going to happen though.

I guess they cut out the part where the police were kindly asking them to follow some simple instructions (which were more then likely for their saftey)
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, THAT'S IT!

Funny, I never thought harming people was a good way to keep them safe.

The thing is- if they were doing that in the grass and not on the pavement, police wouldn't have done anything to them. They were on the pavement because they knew the police would have an issue with it. And if you are willfully obstructing a path, it shows no consideration to those needing to use it.

There's no problem with people standing up for their rights, as long as they do so without infringing on the rights of others. They gave the police no choice but to use methods of force.

This is why protests have fenced-off areas.

And finally someone with some common sense

These kids can't help it, they don't know any better!

They need some people on the side of the road giving hugs so that these kids will know where to protest. You know, kind of like the catchers at the end of a Special Olympics race.

These may be college kids, but I can guarantee you that not one of them can give you an educated explanation as to why they're sitting out there.

So in other words - GET THE FUCK OUTTA THE ROAD YA RETARDS!

First off, the girls in NY who got pepper sprayed were on the sidewalk. As for this case, what you say is not accurate as the Chancellor ordered all tents to be removed from the entire quad. It's not a road and nobody on campus was being prevented from getting to point A from point B.

Students linked arms to form a circle around the tents. Presumably, the police were trying to clear out an area of the "human fence" to get towards the tents. It's easier for the police to do this and to stay organized by focusing on a paved area.
