Pet Peeve

Hey There -

It is a HUGE pet peeve of mine when people use 'hey there' as a salutation, and I find that more and more people in this industry are utilizing that technique. What's the point? You know who you're writing the email to, right? Why not use that person's name? 'Hey There' is just so. . .generic, unfriendly, almost condescending. . .

what's even worse than 'hey there' is 'best' instead of 'sincerely' or 'regards' . just don't put anything there. your name or initial is fine!

It is my pet peeve when people do not bother saying hi, or anything when writing, I guess they do not think there is a real person on the other side of the screen...
